Hey All,
My first post here. I did a search to make sure no one asked this yet, I didn't see anything, but I might of missed posts. So my apologies if this has been asked before. So my family got me a Blu-ray player for Christmas, the BDP-S300 from Sony. So far I love it, the picture quality is great. I do notice some thing though, and just wanted to get some opinions. In all the stores, you walk past the blu-ray setups and you see the 1080p TVs playing, and the quality of the movie is just unreal. So my question I guess really is, how much quality am I missing out on running this player in either 720p or 1080i. Then to follow up with that question, what would be the best mode to run the TV/player in. Is it 720p or 1080i. I've had a few people say 720p, some 1080i and a few say see which looks better to the eye. Thanks for any help you could give. |

In my opinion you will be missing out on a good amount of quality by not having a 1080p television. However there are other factors to consider. I assume you are using HDMI, which will help whether you are going 720p or 1080i. As far as which is better, the it depends group is possibly the best way to go. While 720P won't display the maximum lines of 1080p it might look better during fast action sequences, where the interlaced 1080i might make it look a little choppy. I am sure others will have some ideas and suggestions also. |

hi,
Quote:
It really comes down on the size of the screen, and the viewing distance. A 42" is the bare minimum for 1080p, but 50" would definitely be much more confortable. With smaller sizes you really won't be able to perceive a huge difference... unless you sit very close to the screen, which defeats the purpose. So my suggestion would be to shoot for a large size display, that will really bring the detail of 1080p in your living room. If you're short on money right now, save it and buy your display in 2008.
