Specs

I saw an excellent offer for this TV today -

Priced in store at approx €2120.00

I was told I could have it for €1849.00

Sony have the well advertised VAT back offer on at the moment and I would be able to claim it back on the full €1849.00 meaning I would get back approx €320.00!!

So it would cost just over €1500.00! Sounds an amazing offer to me!!

Anyone have this already? Please feel free to comment on what you think about this TV... much appreciated!

Ahh.. Ok, need your help..

What's the difference between Motionflow 200Hz technology and Motionflow 100Hz technology? Would there be a vast difference?

That is the only difference I can see between the Sony KDL 46HX803 and 46NX713.

The reason I ask is because I was advised of two differing offers;

Sony KDL 46HX803 - €2499.00
VAT back (Sony offer) - €433.00

For €99.00 I would receive a 3D Blu-ray player (or PS3 Slim), 5 3D Blu-ray movies (or 2 3D games), 2 pairs of glasses and the transmitter.

So the total would be €2598.

Sony KDL 46NX713 - €2150.00
VAT back (Sony offer) - €373.00

As the TV is different, I was told that for an extra €325.00 I would get the same extras as above - 3D Blu-ray player (or PS3 Slim), 5 3D Blu-ray movies (or 2 3D games), 2 pairs of glasses and the transmitter.

The total would be €2475.00. So for an extra €120.00 I would get a "better" tv...????

What you think?

For 3D viewing you would want the better TV, it has less ghosting and better response times. LCD for 3D is still maturing but it has inherent advantages like brightness, but the refresh rate needs to be much lower to get rid of the ghosting.

If it was me, I would go with the higher package, for €120 you are getting a much better TV that is more suited (actually built) for 3D viewing, and the HX has LED edge lighting on an S-PVA panel which is good for 3D. The NX series has an ASV type panel which is less suited to 3D as it has worse motion handling, a worse response time and worse viewing angles (off angle viewing is really important for 3D).

I would say for the final €120 the bang for you buck (or euro) is absolutely massive!

That's good info Max, thanks for the feedback!

Overall it is still a bit more than I had hoped to spend, but hopefully it will be worth it!

Now I've to decide on a either a new 3D Blu-ray player, or a second PS3...

It depends on whether you would prefer a 3D player or a console. A 3D player would be my choice as I already have a PS3.

Deposit paid on the 46HX803!

Very very very excited!! It will be in store next Tuesday so I will pick it up the following Thursday after work (late opening!)

Still undecided on whether or not to take the PS3 Slim 120gb or the 3D Blu-ray player.. 5 movies with the player, or else 2 games with the Slim. Think I'll go with the player as it would be nice to get the movies and get use out of the 3D-ness

Hope I'm making a good decision!!

So yeah went with the KDL 46HX803 in the end and I am picking it up after work tomorrow!

I'll be getting a Sony 3D Blu-ray player with the TV as well as 5 3D Blu-rays - Monster House, Bolt, Alice In Wonderland, This Is It and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs so will watch one of those tomorrow night!

Ordered 'A Christmas Carol' today too..

We've a dedicated 3D channel over here so lots of live sport and movies to look forward too!

3D HAS ARRIVED!
