Default Evil Dead Series?

I already have The Evil Dead on Blu-Ray and want to get the second one and the third one. Does anybody know which country has the best transfer? Doesn't matter what region and if it's locked or not since I have a region free Blu-Ray player. I hear that the best version of Army of Darkness is the UK import and that it has a better video and audio transfer than the US one.

Please let me know which country has the best video and audio transfer for Evil Dead II and Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness.

Evil Dead 2 has the same PQ everywhere.

The UK Army of Darkness is the best version currently available.

Thanks for the quick response.

Do you suggest I buy Evil Dead II, or should I hold out in hope of a rerelease with better quality? Or do you think that this is the best it'll get and won't get a better transfer?

Do you think that it might be released with a better transfer anytime soon?

I own the US Blu Ray of Evil Dead 2 and it looks pretty good. Like someone else said here, its the same transfer on both but the US has more special features.
I think i read that the US has the best transfer of Army of Darkness, but the UK has more special features and the Directors Cut.

I'm too still waiting for Ultimate Editions of Evil Dead 2 and 3, but i think its gonna be a while!

I'd hold out in hope of a re-release. That's what I'm doing.

I heard that Army of Darkness has the best transfer in the UK. Just from looking at screenshots, the picture looks like the picture was sharpened to the max while the UK screenshots looked a bit more natural. I can't say for sure though since I haven't seen either on my 1080P tv, but it's just judging from the screenshots and what the official reviewers on the site said for each version.

Evil Dead II might currently have the same 'orrible dnr transfer everywhere but I noticed an especially annoying audio glitch on my UK copy. My Optimum bd had the sound cut out for a brief moment when Linda's head was in the vice. When she said 'suffers' if memory recalls. Called a friend with the same version - same exact problem. Bad batch or a universal fault on the UK version? Dunno...but it was enough for me to replace with the region friendly, non-afflicted US version. As for Army, yes, my understanding is that the UK version (which I own) does look better but as a fan of the director's cut, I really missed the extra footage...especially during the final battle, that's where the editing definetly hurts. btw Don't be fooled by the UK copy's 'director's cut' standard definition extra - it's unwatchable, terrible PQ quality, worst so far. The region 3 MGM director's cut dvd of Army looks pretty darn good so fingers crossed for a full length version in good quality HD....

I already ordered the UK import....anyways, I keep hearing that the theatrical flows a tad better.

Region B locked.

Only reason I'm able to play this is because I have a region free Blu-Ray player.

I strongly disagree, to the point where it ruins Ash's character. I'm talking about that ending.

[Show spoiler]It doesn't sit will with me the 'heroic' ending. Ash is a f**k up and the other ending portrays that perfectly.

I'm with you 100%...as a matter of fact, I can't stand to watch the theatrical cut of "Army" anymore myself, I can only watch the DC (and the ending, as you said, is "perfect" because of the persona of Ash's character. I wish that's how they'd ended it theatrically because it could've left the door open for yet another sequel, which might've been great (I'd have gone to see some "post-apocalyptic Ash" )...

I remember seeing "Army" in the theater when it came out, and even way back then, thought the ending was terrible...was so happy when the DC became available on DVD...and so let down when they didn't release the DC on Blu here in the U.S.

After reading what you guys said, I decided to check out the director's cut on youtube. I don't even remember the theatrical ending clearly tbh, because I haven't seen the movie in years.
I do like the idea of the director's cut ending though. I'd be very interested to see where they could have gone with that.

I always thought it would've been cool to have Ash take on the post-apocalyptic deadite/mutant armies all by himself, with whatever defunct futuristic technology he could make work again.

However, they'd need to at least have some normal people who survived the end of the world (especially women), because, as well all know, considering Ash's appetite for ladies, he probably wouldn't survive well without them...

Hahaha true.
It would be awesome to see him take on the apocalyptic world.
