Indiana Jones...a well? wow....I'm speechless. Anway after this he's doing a Tin Tin movie with Peter Jackson, Abraham Lincoln movie and sci-fi movie about black holes called Intersteller.

Why go back and create a sequel to a hugely successful and beloved franchise??? gee I dunno, seems silly.

Well hell, I know there's money to be had.

I mean on a broader scale, why go back to the well? To appease audience escapism in the face of ever-growing contemporary societal hardship? To keep the latest crop of adults under an infantile mindset by pulling out all their old toys so they get lost in nostalgia? I mean, what is it with all the rampant '80s resurrection lately?

I do apologize for making an attempt at further examination of the phenomena rather than lapping it up with the rest of the crowd.

Wow. Lots of big words. LOL. J/K.

I think you're way over analyzing the situation. There's simply an assload of money to be made with a new Indiana Jones, so $pielberg and Luca$ are obviously on board to revisit a familiar franchise.

I'm highly sceptical of this film. I hope it's good, but I sort of wish they weren't making it. Unless it's really really awesome. Last Cruscade was a great final film for the franchise. I'm so scared they're going to give us the Phantom Menace of Indiana Jones.

There could be any number of reasons why Spielberg decided to return to the Indy franchise. One could argue it was for financial gain, as any addition to the series would most certainly be a cash cow, but I highly doubt he needs the money. I think he truly loves the Indy movies and wanted to do a sequel. It helps that there are a ton of fans out there asking for one.

Nostalgic content is inevitable with every generation. Look at how many "oldies" radio stations we have right now that appeal to the baby boomer generation... those same stations will be geared towards generation x in 20 years or less.

In the immortal words of Roger Mayweather in HBO's series 24/7, "Why you think Bill Gates still makes them computers?"

I think everyone's quite aware he doesn't need to do anything for money, but I'm sure it helps going into a project knowing it's a going to be a blockbuster before you do any work on it whatsoever.

Despite my earlier argument of them doing it for money, I'm sure they're all going back to it again because they love it just as much as the rest of us. I'd just hate to see them taint the franchise. But like Indy, I'll take a leap of faith and pray they know what they're doing.
