Firmware upgrade on older player. - Blu-ray Forum

Ok. So I'm really new to this.
If you have older player (I have Sony S301 model). When Sony come out with new profile. Can it be upgraded through firmware? or I have to buy new player. I don't think my player support true HD audio either (correct me if I'm wrong) Can that be upgraded through firmware also ?

the player mite be updated to player thrue hd audio(its only a format) the sammy 1400 was first player to be updated to add tru hd and is currenty the only player that can play it. personaly i do not think the current sony moddels can be updated due to lack of hardware(secondary video and audio decoder and 256mb storage) but other players such as a pannisonic has been comment by insider to have necceasery hard to ware to be updated.

but remember profile 1.1 dose not affect your movie experence its only extras
