The Last Unicorn: Blu-ray Combo Pack

One of the most beloved animated films of all-time makes its high definition debut as Lionsgate Home Entertainment releases The Last Unicorn: Blu-Ray Combo Pack (two discs - one Blu-ray and one DVD) this February. Digitally remastered in 1080P high definition widescreen and featuring the voice talents of Jeff Bridges (TRON: Legacy), Mia Farrow (The Purple Rose of Cairo), Angela Lansbury (Nanny McPhee) and Rene Auberjonois (The Little Mermaid), the film is a treasured fantasy classic perfect for all ages. The Last Unicorn also showcases the talented artists of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli (Princess Mononoke) and music performed by the band America. Along with previously available special features, the Blu-ray will contain new bonus content including an audio commentary with writer Peter S. Beagle and publisher Connor Cochran, as well as a never-before-seen featurette and an art contest gallery. Based on Hugo Award-winning author Peter S. Beagle's novel, The Last Unicorn: Blu-Ray Combo Pack will be available in a foil o-card sleeve.

In this whimsical, animated film, a lone unicorn seeks out others like herself through a mystical land of talking cats and spellbinding magicians. Based on the book by Peter S. Beagle, this story has captivated the hearts of fans - young and old from around the globe. In her search for other unicorns, the last unicorn encounters a cast of delightful characters as well as dangers she never imagined. Throughout the fantastic adventure, she learns of friendship, love and most importantly her true self. Discover the magic that has kept this tale a treasured classic. Featuring the voices of Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow and Angela Lansbury, the story brings forth the power of friendship, the beauty of love and the pain of regret. Interlaced with songs and ethereal imagery, The Last Unicorn will reignite the hearts of its fans and entrance all who enter.

AUDIO / VIDEO Version UPDATE

Looks like according to this post from http://www.digitalbits.com you will have a choice between the "CENSORED" audio and the original audio!

Here is the post.

"And here's a bit of clarification about Lionsgate's forthcoming Blu-ray Combo release of The Last Unicorn on 2/22 (SRP $19.98). When the film was released on DVD a few years ago, the audio was censored to remove a couple of mild profanities and one image in the film was briefly blurred. The new Blu-ray will be offer the film completely uncensored, but it will also include the edited "family friendly" audio track for those who prefer it. Both the censored and uncensored audio tracks will be DTS-MA 5.1. That comes directly from studio sources (and thank you to those sources!), so fans can rest easy."

My mom loves this movie, so she can have the DVD from this combo pack. Here's hoping for an elegant slip.

I don't think I've seen this since I saw it theatrically at 6 years old. I'll pick it up though, to watch with my kids.

It defines the concept of melancholy and fatalism in animation - I would never rank it alongside the Miyazaki films, yet this Rankin/Bass charmer is a kind of forerunner to Miyazaki's acclaimed features.

Do you watch 3 movies a day every single day? You have 777 blus so that means if you watch at least one movie every single day for 2 years than you will have watched all of your movies.

Awesome!
I really remember this movie being impressive when I saw it (long, long ago) and while I'm sure it might be a bit dated when compared to some of the modern animated films, it was very well done.
I'm glad I held off on the somewhat recent DVD release.

Now if they can get the Hobbit & Return of the King (same studio I believe) released on BD.

I can't wait to pick this up, such an excellent 80s animated feature. Now they need to announce the Care Bears movie.

Any news on if they are correcting the PAL audio issue from the 25th Anniversary DVD and/or keeping all of the original dialogue without the cuss words ridiculously edited out?

That probably won't be known until it drops, something to ask Jeff Kleist though.
