Glory and Gettysburg are the two top ones. Of course, Dances with Wolves too.

The Pacific wasn't bad but I wouldn't recommend it as a blind buy and I definitely wouldn't recommend paying full price.

Like I said, it wasn't bad really but it was definitely no Band of Brothers.

The Pacific was decent. It had its ups and downs. Overall not sure if I would care to own it or even watch it again though. If u are blind buying it be careful. I would netflix it first. Got Em!!

If you've watched a few you've got enough information to make your own decision. For me some of the melodrama got a little tiresome as the series wore on but for the most part what you saw early was what you got.

It didn't get significantly better or worse as it went along.

Agree with this. It was kinda par for the course for each episode. Wasnt bad wasnt good. Some episodes had a few great moments and some episodes were stale. Overall decent but wouldnt buy it. Got Em!!

The Pacific was very good but nowhere near as good as BoB. Remember that it was a very different war and that the battles aren't as well-known for the most part as Bastogne or D-Day. The difference to me was the characterization. That's really where BoB succeeded and The Pacific didn't match up.

Another Civil War movie is "Gods and Generals" and it is available on blu-ray. Of course there are a number of other ones made for TV by TNT for example: Andersonville, One on the battle between the Merrimac and Monitor, one about the Confederate submarine CSS Hunley. Also, if you enjoy civil war films you should check out The Red Badge of Courage. There are 2 versions (one with Audy Murphy and the other one with Richard Thomas).
