Default Bravia Sync

I doubt it but if we got a Sony TV but non Sony audio equipment (speakers, etc) could we connect all of them together using HDMI and with press a button turn on all at once? I doubt it as that'd probably require all Sony equipment.

Theoretically, yes. CEC control is supposed to work accross brands, and usually does. Bravia Link/Sync is just Sony's branding of the HDMI CEC system. That being said, CEC systems apparently aren't always created equal, and some work better than others. There was an artical a while back comparing various brand's CEC control systems, and Sony's came out the most consistent. That was a while back though, and things may have changed.

Knowing the person who wants a TV probably, he or we won't try to get a syncing sort of setup, even though the audio equipment in the room is about 20 years old.
