Which 3D Blu-ray Player to buy and where? Region A, B & region free recommendations - Blu-ray Forum

Help!!! I'm in the process of updating a few things. I have been using my original PS3 60gb fat for all of my blu ray needs. My PS3 is getting old an in an attempt to try to add a little more life to it as well as the fact that I can't get lossless audio when playing 3D titles in 3D, I find my self wanting a new blu ray player. I want a player that will allow me to get the best audio and video quality (I am not sure how much the pic and sound varies from model to model). I am less concerned about a feature rich player with a bunch of apps, upscaling dvd's, online etc. I just want to be able to pop a 3D blu ray in and get a great 3D 1080p sound and lossless. I would prefer to spend less than $200 but I would consider spending slightly more. I have Sony pass through 1.4 receiver that can decode all of the lossless codecs. The thing I loved about using the PS3 is it's ability to automatically choose the right codec settings without me having to manually select the ones I want. I would like a player that has a similar feature. I have a 58 inch Samsung 7000 series 3D plasma. I think I would prefer to go with either a Sony or Samsung. I welcome any good advice and suggestions. Thanks in advance

Right now it's 127.00. I get all the lossless audio through HDMI. I have an Onkyo 3D receiver. I HDMI cable to the Receiver and then 1 out to the TV. Works great.

No problem. Glad to help. Oh and it's super fast from turnin on to playing movie. I think it's faster than the PS3. You'll like it.

I think I did do that before the 3D stuff was ready. It was pretty quick though.

I'm thinking about one of the new panny bluray players. While there's a few reasons I'm tempted to make the jump, there is one in particular you guys can help me with.

I haven't had the chance to play with a device that can increase the 3D effect. I'm curious about it but I can also see some problems. Does it increase ghosting? Or is it merely a matter of eye strain?

I'm starting to blab a bit. 2 drinks a long day does that to me. But basically, does it work?

Just need some advice / input..

Gonna be getting my first 3D BDP soon,, and i narrowed it down to 3,,first is the panasonic BDP 220 or the 210 or i can get an LG BP620 for $60.00.
the Lg seems like a decent price ( it is new in the box) but the panny 210 can be region free,if im not mistaken,maybe thats worth getting.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Considered a PS3?

It's got firmwire, 3D, BD, video on demand, television on demand, net access practically turns any telle into a smart one, a big HDD to store whatever you want, and something else... oh yeah, games.

Though I think there's some issue with lossless audio on 3D blu's, but I can't tell ya for sure cause my speakers aren't that great anyway.

yea,cant really do that,,already have a few 360's in the house,just really need a 3D BD player.already got the 3DTV lol..
Dont really want to buy a new game system just for 3d

Panasonic has always been pretty reliable. Good features, solid build, firmware support etc

Thats what i was leaning towards,,
the reason the LG is so cheap is that a local liquidator place had a big pallet auction over the weekend,and there was quite a few blu ray players,,soundbars etc among them.

saving money isn't always a good idea. I don't know that LG model, but you should go with players that are well rated and the Panasonic BDT-220 is what I would go for at just a little over $100 from Amz.

I haven't compared them but the 220 is basically the new 210. You might want to find the specs of both to see. I would think that if there are differences the 220 would be more up to date, but you'll have to check. I did read a few really good reviews of the 220. If I was in the market for a player right now it would be Panasonic or Sony (outside of Oppo that is). Firmware updates being one of the primary reasons.

Was wanting to know if anyone had any suggestions for a good region free 3D blu ray player. Right now I am just using my ps3 for the 3D but would like to have a region free player as I travel to England twice a year and it would be convenient to buy some movies for cheaper over there knowing I could play them here too.

Any help is appreciated thanks!

Oppo players can have a region-free chip added to them, but they are among the most expensive (if not THE most expensive) players on the market. (Although with their new models coming out, there is likely to be a flood of the prior versions on the used market)

In Canada, Walmart carries a Seiki brand player that can apparently be modified to be region-free. These are generally about $75 or so, but go on sale once or twice per year for nearly 1/2 that. (If you are in the US, not sure whether Walmart US carries the same brand or not)

I have an orei region free player I paid $130 shipped to Canada, as my 2nd 3d player that I only use for the odd region locked discs it works perfectly. A little loud while loading but it allowed me to see a few really good 3d blu rays I never would of had the chance to see.
