I haven't played the Brunswick game, but I heard it's not very good. I have HVB and suppose it's ok, but the controls will take a bit of getting used to. If you've ever played Wii Bowling, it will be nothing like that, because in HVB you're penalized for throwing too hard (whereas in Wii Bowling, the main strategy seems to be to throw the ball as hard as you can).
The main issue I have with HVB is the design of the game in general. All the characters are stereotypical, many of the white-trash/trailer park variety. Maybe at the time they wanted to emphasize that a PS3 is for grown-ups, unlike a Wii. I don't know. But it gets a bit annoying hearing them say their dumb lines and seeing their stupid celebrations. As a recommendation, try to get the regular HVB if it's still available. I know they sell it on disc loaded up with DLC for $40, and sell the same thing now in the PS Store for $40, but I think that's too much for this game. The original/core version of the game might still be available for it's original price ($10 or $15 or something). If it's not, there are used copies of the disc version for ~$15 on Amazon. |

I would go with High Velocity Bowling..........Brunswick is terrible and there is no spin to your throw. I felt like the game was lifeless with no good atmosphere either. Plus I felt like the ball was going at 2 mph down the lane.

Yes you can play HV online. I have the Brunswick bowling game at home, but haven't tried it out yet. Maybe if i get bored watching the Vikings game tonight i'll try to check out the Brunswick game and let you know how it is. |

The Move control/patch thing was released for regular PSN people about a month ago, but was released a few weeks or so earlier for PSN+ people.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on HVB with Move. I have it and think the addition of Move controls make it 1000 times more fun. It definitely feels more natural than having to grip the Dualshock and use the L2 and R2 levers for spin.
As far as the game itself, I really like it. The graphics are fun and crisp, you can have your own sound track, there's a good variety of locations and characters, and there's a good variety of play modes. The characters do get a bit annoying but at least you can by pass their comments/celebrations each time. The only thing that I think is missing is a create a character feature. That would've made the game a lot better. |
