Default 4K in theaters

*If there is a thread about this please re-direct me to it*

How do you find out where movies are playing in 4k? I have AMC's in my town but I know they only have digital for 2 screens and they're always 3D. I'm talking 4k 2D.

Here's a list of the Sony 4K locations. The only problem is that they don't list the screen # and if the cinema is part of a chain, they might move the equipment around without informing Sony.

Look at the 8k projectors that Evans and Sutherland can bring to the table. And it powered by LAZORS (Or Lasers for you english scholars). Check it out.

LAZORS ARE THE FUTURE of front projectors.

Oy! So followed that link the other month. I finally make plans to drive down and see Tron on that Sony 4k projector near me... and two days later the theater closes!

http://www.pressnews.com/articles/20...agiccloses.txt

I remember that when it originally opened it was as an IMAX theater; and I was surprised when the big IMAX sign came down and it closed for a week to change to SXHD. Now its gone again and hopefully a new owner steps up.. and soon. I'm not sure if the sale of the theater would include the projectors or not. I sure hope it does.

Some complaints are that it wasn't close to any other resteraunts... which is totally valid. Still I think it also shows the risk of theaters relying solely on the current crop of 3D movies as your bread and butter... especially when a huge bulk of your business revolves around one massive screen. Most of the time that screen was 3D only.. which was why I avoided it.. and probably others too.
