Just started watching "The Dead Zone" on Netflix Streaming, and I'm about 20 minutes in to the 1st episode. How did I miss this???
Right now I'm on the part where he first wakes up and screams about "Maggie". I like how they show the visions. I don't remember watching the movie with Walken, but I DO remember the book which I liked a lot. So I know basic details such as his accident as a kid, and it coming into it's own at the Carnival. There was no car crash in the book was there? Was thinking it was something about the carnival game that scared his girlfriend. How he kept picking the right answer or something. Anyway, back to the show.... I'm liking this so far. Plus it's on me and Wyldeman's favorite network so I have liked pretty much everything they've done so far (with the exception of Psych and Monk which I haven't watched). |

OHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIT! Greg Stillson is a CREEPY sumb*tch as a kid! That look he gave Johnny after Johnny fell was cold blooded! Like, "Yeah, that's right, b*tch. How you like me NOW?"
This is gonna be goooooooood! EDIT: Oh SNAP! Stillson is played by one of the Boondock Saints? EPIC! Can't wait til his big church scene! Last edited by Groo The Perverted; 12-27-2010 at 02:01 AM. |

Watched three episodes of Season 2 and I'm frustrated by the lack of serialization here, and the lack of Greg Stillson. He was the main focus of Johnny in the book (and movie, I believe) but he's only been in TWO episodes (and a one line mention in two others).
I think I'm going to figure out which episodes deal with Stillson and just watch those. I hate this "case of the week" bullshit, which is why I never watch CSI/NCIS/Without a Trace and those types of shows. EDIT: Stillson is in 19 episodes out of 6 years. The exact same number of episodes as in Season 2 alone. #FACEPALM What's up with that? I'm just gonna watch those eps. lol. Last edited by Groo The Perverted; 12-27-2010 at 09:31 PM. |

So I decided to only watch the Stillson related episodes (along with any season finales) and I'm enjoying it a lot more now. No more filler episodes that have nothing to do with Stillson, which is the major thread anyway.
[Show spoiler] Just watched the 3rd season opener. Holy shit was that awesome! [Show spoiler] WHOAAAAA!This is getting good! |

Oh wow, he just
[Show spoiler] I kinda thought he would [Show spoiler] Guess that didn't happen, but it's cool how it ended. Hope Sarah Wynter is going to go away soon. Didn't like her on 24 and don't care for her here either. [Show spoiler] That oughta be cool.

Okay I finished watching the Stillson related episodes (19 in total) and here are my thoughts.
1. The Dead Zone producers/creators can lick my ass. What the hell, man? This series should have been two or three seasons tops. They should have focused entirely on the Greg Stillson plotline which is what the book and movie were all about. Who cares about "oh Johnny inhaled some methlab stuff and is having freaky visions" or "Johnny's helping some random podunk town find a kidnapped girl, and oh yeah nearly gets burned at the stake for being a witch/warlock" or whatever else completely random and useless episodes. The entire series should have been about Stillson's rise to power, and Johnny's attempts to stop the coming apocalyptic event that he saw in his visions surrounding Stillson. I didn't have a problem with the extra stuff about the secret society, because Martin Donovan was pimp as usual. But they spent way too much time on other shit, when out of 75+ episodes I'm guessing they used 19 to feature Stillson. Ridiculous. Which leads me to.... 2. WHAT THE ****? You spend the equivalent of the 2nd seasons (19 episodes) on the Stillson storyline, the MAIN storyline of the book that the show is based on, and FIVE other seasons on bullshit that doesn't matter, and you STILL don't get a proper finale? You think you might have used some of those other 50+ episodes to...I dunno...WRAP SHIT UP!???!? Man, I'm heated right now. I've NEVER been so pissed off at a show like this before. There are shows that I was upset at how it got cut off, but that was due to the show getting cancelled after a season or two and they didn't have time to explore what they wanted (case in point: Carnivale), this one they had six f***ing years to do this story and they leave us hanging??? Aw F*** you, man! I mean, even if you hated the Lost finale, at least it had a finale and wrapped shit up. You may not have liked all the answers you got, and perhaps wanted MORE answers, but they didn't pull this cock tease of an ending. /rant |
