Ok guys
I'm looking to add another tv I currently own LCD I like the brightness of LED however Im impressed by plasma as well this tv will be placed with my pioneer elite a/v receiver & Polk monitor speakers so I'd like this tv to be nice. I know most guys here the first queston is budget mine is kinda low $1500.00 is most likely the highest I can go, ofcourse less is ok just want a strong quality tv with the best PQ I can get at that price. All suggestions are welcome remember I'm not married to either LED or Plasma would like recommendations on type and model names thanks |

For $1500 the Panasonic 54" G25 is great, and for a bit more the 50" VT25 that also offers 3D but also offers better 2D picture quality (it's currently Panasonic's best 2010 model).
I would also consider waiting until Superbowl weekend as the prices will drop a bit more. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TC-P...3385500&sr=8-5 http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIER...3385621&sr=1-1 To get comparable picture quality to Plasma with LED, you have to pay a really large premium. The best LED sets will be the ones that do full local dimming. This is one of the best LED sets currently out, from LG the LE8500 line. This is I believe one of the best LED sets $1200 for 47" on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/LG-INFINIA-47L...3385887&sr=8-1 Last edited by fairchild; 12-26-2010 at 04:53 PM. |

I have a Samsung PN63C8000YF 3-D Plasma. Bought new almost 3 months ago. Paid just over $3400.00 for it. Got a promo on it which included Samsung 3-D Blu-ray player and 4 pairs of 3-D glasses. Bought an extended 3 year warranty.
TV has great picture quality (both 2-D and 3-D). It has everything I wanted in a bigger screen TV. Down side: The TV died about a month ago. Totally. Contacted Samsung, they sent a local repairman to fix. First visit, checked the TV. Second visit, replaced 2 boards. No fix. Third visit, replaced remaining 2-3 boards. No fix. He told me its the display itself - has to be. Said he would contact Samsung and see if they want to replace plasma screen. I called Samsung and they offered to ship me a brand new exact model (not refurbished) ... but ... the lady tech at Samsung gave me a very quick lesson in large-screen plasmas: "Life expectancy is less than a year; plasmas are not made to last and not just the Samsung brand but all brands." I was in shock. She then told me my best bet if I wanted 3-D (which I do) would be to next time only get an LED-LCD or LCD. This was my very first plasma (prior to this I still have my 55" LCD and 65" DLP). Both are still working like they are new and they are 2-3 years old and both have had a lot of use. And I didn't pay anywhere near what I did for the Samsung. So, in a couple of weeks I should have the replacement. But I am feeling anxious that the same will happen with the replacement. And with what the Samsung tech told me is enough to scare anyone from spending a lot of money on any plasma. I will say that Samsung has done the right thing in replacing the TV. All this has led to my searching for a big screen 3-D LED LCD but you know what? Try and find one from any manufacturer. The new Panasonic 3-Ds are PLASMA. Anything 50" and over are all PLASMAS at least from what I found. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be most welcomed. Last edited by HD4ever; 12-29-2010 at 02:27 AM. |
