Probably, but most likely won't be released until August. Most shows take 7-9 months to be released, and usually the month before the next season premieres

A lot of people seem to like it, but I'm one who doesn't. I found the pilot episode to be extremely predictable... I watched 3 or 4 more episodes and I couldn't pay attention, I gave up after that. To me it's very overrated, but you may like it who knows

yep. and sometimes not even that long. I think each season of Dexter has come out 2 weeks before the next season premiere. it's a smart decision by networks to do this. i wonder how long they've been doing it this way...?

The last two seasons of Dexter came out August 18th and 17th. The previous seasons were released in January and May 2009. Then it premiered September 27th (last year) and September 26th this year.

For whatever reason Weeds Season 6 comes out at the end of February but it just ended in November. Although it started in August when the two previous seasons started in June.

Breaking Bad Season 1 and 2 came out two weeks before Season 3 started. Same thing with Entourage Season 6, I think.

So it really depends on when the next season comes back on. They're pushing back Season 4 of Breaking Bad, so it'll probably push back the BD release.

Even though it's on DVD, Desperate Housewives always had either a late August or early September release. Season 6 came out the same week Season 7 premiered.

I started watching it last night. Just watched the Pilot...but I found it to be boring. I love the 20's, the music, the style, everything about that time period. But this show just started off very bland. I'm not left wondering what is going to happen to the characters.

Plus, with Steve Buscemi, I keep thinking I'm watching an Adam Sandler movie, and I can't take his character seriously.

I know, which is why I think it's overrated. I'm not the only person who doesn't like it, I'm just the only person willing to give my opinion on a show that everyone seems to like/love, that happens to be overrated.

He's the main reason why I can't get into the show. As soon as I saw him in the previews I couldn't take it seriously anymore. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway since it interested me. He's one of those people I see as one character or role and that's it. As you said, I feel like I should be watching an Adam Sandler movie. Yes he's been in more than just that but that's all I've ever seen him in (that I remember)

Someone gave me crap because I only knew Skeet Ulrich from Scream. They told me I must not watch a lot of movies because I haven't seen anything with him in it since 1996. I said it was more because I've never heard of any of the movies OR been interested in seeing them. So I can't take him seriously in Law & Order: LA, which isn't a good show anyway.

To me, that's like trying to take Anna Faris seriously. She's in a lot of completely stupid but hilarious movies so I could never see her in a serious role. Which is why so many people stick to what they're good at and don't go too far out of that.

As I said, I tried watching the show and getting into it but I couldn't. The episode would be so-so then something would happen at the end and make me watch the next. I did, and towards the middle of the fourth or fifth episode I turned it off.

Definitely pre-ordering when announced...set design, acting, writing, production, all very good.

We'll see how they do against Mad Men, though, in 21 days. It's a pretty tough call, but I would like to see Boardwalk Empire get the GG along with Buscemi and MacDonald.

I can agree BE is a bit slow to get started, but I was sufficiently addicted after the first five episodes. I started watching it because of my interest in HBO programming and history in general. BE features interesting historical characters such as Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano, Nucky Thompson, and Al Capone just to name a few. That alone won't sell a show, so it's no surprise they recruited top drawer acting talent as well.

A few examples - Rothstein is portrayed by Michael Stuhlbarg, previously best known for his Larry Gopnik character in A Serious Man. Stephen Graham tackles Capone, and also played Baby Face Nelson in Public Enemies. Buscemi does a fine job as corrupt treasurer Nucky Thompson, it's seriously difficult to imagine anyone else in the role. Other favorites include Kelly Macdonald, Gretchen Mol, and Michael Kenneth Williams.

There are also standout fictional characters such as
[Show spoiler]the Internal Revenue Agent Van Alden, a complex and deeply religious man with his own unique moral code. There's Richard Harrow, a soft spoken and shockingly disfigured veteran marksman who served in WWI, who becomes an unlikely partner with Jimmy (and thankfully confirmed to be a series regular in the second season).

There's the more cerebral storytelling we expect from HBO, the extremely high production values (including that incredible recreation of Atlantic City's boardwalk from the twenties), the delicate attention paid to getting the costuming just right, and plotting that brilliantly weaves actual history with interesting fiction.

I'm not attempting to change anyone's take on the show, nor do I care to, but these are the reasons I love Boardwalk Empire and consider it to be the best new television program of 2010.

I found Boardwalk Empire to be a slow starter. I expected a lot from the pilot, what with Scorsese and all, and found it vaguely unaffecting. But with each episode, I liked it more and more until the end of the season, it was one of the shows I looked forward the most.

My biggest outright complaint is with the opening titles. Every episode begins with jangly classic rock that doesn't fit in any way with the show that follows it, as Buscemi looks portentously out to sea. It would be one thing if this fit the show in some "rock and roll roaring twenties" kind of way but it just doesn't.

*shakes fist at bad opening credits*

*sits back down and enjoys program*

Agreed! It's actually a pretty good song, it simply doesn't mesh with the subject matter very well. With other HBO programs such as The Sopranos, Deadwood, and The Wire, I'd almost always listen to the entire credits sequence even when watching on home video. With Boardwalk Empire, I muted the television and used the time to grab something from the fridge
