Default iPad - Keep or Return?

I bought an iPad back in April when they first launched. It was cool, but besides the size, not much different than my iPhone, I thought. So I returned it. Well, ever since that day, I've been thinking about another iPad. Enter Christmas two days ago. I Received some gift cards and decided to put them towards a new iPad. I paid the difference. Anyway, I've been playing with it again, and yes, it indeed has the "cool" factor, but I'm asking myself again what this can do my iPhone can't? Need help and advice.

To all the guys/gals with iPads, what do you think? Suggestions? Opinions?

Thanks!

I am not sure what the real diffrence is, but I love my iPad. I do not have an iPhone, but I would think if they did the same thing, there is no real need for both.

IMO, I would return it. I thought about owning one myself and have played with my friends but outside of of the first few days of cool factor, it is nothing but an enlarged Ipod Touch. Not worth it to me. I have an Iphone and it does all I want and more. I would take it back and get a mac mini and use it as a media server. That will be my next apple purchase. I think if your second guessing yourself, you are already over the cool factor.

i have an iphone 4 and it's primarily my phone and my calander for work as well as other features. nice for gaming, movies, apps and other features. i check my personal email and send txt to my daughter and to friends too. however, i do plan on buying an iPad later on probably early in the second quarter next year. the ipad represents something to me that the iphone 4 doesn't, the ability to use it well without squinting or having to wear reading glasses. it has a nice large screen that if my intention is to read books, magazines and other things that really need more screen size then the iphone or itouch just won't do. it also has a larger screen that i can really enjoy for gaming and everything else i could do with my iphone4 except make a call and text. my iphone will still get plenty of use on the go and my ipad will get plenty of use during downtime when i'm not at work so each will have it's use and place and at my age, one can't truly replace the other. i see the ipad as a toy and a productivity tool too just as much as i do the iphone4, but the ipad is going to be a lot easier on my "getting older" eyes!

of course, if you don't want to buy the ipad, again, then don't but it sounds like you kinda want it so my answer is don't ask us, if it's something you miss and you want it after you have given it up then that means you kinda made a bad choice in the first place. asking us is the easy way out think about what your life has been thus far without it and then think about why you are considering getting it again and you should come up with the true answer on your own.

probably not what you wanted to hear but i think you can figure this one out without the audiences help!

Thanks solarrdad.

I am enjoying them but I am starting to crave more. My wife told me this system has to last longer than 6 months as most that come through my house don't. The next time I upgrade, I will not slouch on anything and get every piece of gear I want and be done for a while. Something like waboman's setup. I dream of mac gear. One day, one day. Now back to the ipad.

I felt the same way when I bought mine, but after having it for a while it comes in handy sometimes. I use it to check email, browse a few sites, etc. Since it has a larger screen I actually use it more now than my iPod Touch.

I use my iPad primarily for reading comics and graphic novels, as well as books and magazines, which is probably the strongest advantage for an iPad over an iPod/iPhone.

If you want to return it, I'll take it. Seriously.
Maybe even trade a couple Blu-rays for it.

(I don't have much of an Apple budget at home, not even an iPhone; I'm probably one of the few who still actually listens to the iPods they bought years ago, and I'm still looking for an e-reader.)

I'm using mine now. I absolutely love it as a browser and a movie/tv viewer, HD is great. I have a first gen iPod Touch and the battery doesn't last long and there are no speakers and the processor is quite sluggish. I love it love it looooooove the iPad but I got it on Xmas so the cool factor is still here... I love it anyways. I prefer it over my HP laptop which is great but the battery needs to be replaced, and it gets a little hot (I have a lap desk) Anywho this will be my travel buddy and video viewing buddy. As well as my browsing buddy, any who I love it and I say keep it and when out of wifi range don't use the 3G iPad, just use your iPhone as a hot spot, my friend who has an iPhone showed me that, that is what I will do when I get the verizon iPhone.........

Do you see a pile of $$$ everytime you look at it because it is not being used regularly? If yes, then sell it.

I purchased one of the current Ipod Classic 160gb earlier this year and returned it to Amazon for that reason, $224. I snagged a mint, barely used Ipod Video 80gb for $75 shipped from Audiogon and now see $$$ everytime I look at it. I still use my unbreakable Rio Cali 512mb.

I'd keep it. My daughter uses it for tons of stuff. The longer I have it, the more I use it. I find myself using it as a personal computer more than anything. At first, I didn't do much with it. But just today I was thinking it has turned out to be the best gadget I purchased all year.
Like you said...it's a lot like your iphone. But it's bigger. For what both products do, bigger is much better imo. Hold onto it, it will grow on you!

i am hoping that the new one will be released as rumored in Q2 of 2011. I'll have about $200.00 in BB RZ points & gift cards ready and waiting for it and yes, i'll be getting the top of the line model but the wi-fi only model!
