I've been looking online for quite some time now about different custom settings. I have shutters on the only window in my room, so when I watch movies it's pretty damn dark in my room.
I'd like to hear what the professional settings are for this TV. I want to get the best possible picture quality possible from this TV. |

These are the settings I now have and it looks better. The screen is much easier on the eyes and things look more realistic than just bright popping colors. :
--Picture menu Mode: Movie Backlight: 5 Contrast: 93 Brightness: 44 Sharpness: 0 Color: 52 Tint: G50/R50 Detailed settings submenu: Black adjust: Off Dynamic contrast: Off Gamma: +3 Color space: Auto Flesh tone: 0 Edge enhancement: Off xvYCC: Off White balance submenu: R-Offset: 25 G-Offset: 26 B-Offset: 25 R-Gain: 24 G-Gain: 23 B-Gain: 14 Picture options submenu: Color tone: Warm2 Size: Just Scan Digital NR: Off DNIe: [grayed out] HDMI black level: [grayed out] Film mode: [grayed out] Blue only mode: Off Auto motion plus 120Hz: Off --Setup menu Entertainment: Off Energy saving: Off My problem with these settings though is that the skin tones of some people are either way too tinted with yellow or way too white. Everything else looks natural, but skin tones don't look too good on the actors. Can someone help me with these settings and tell me what would be best to tweak from those settings? |

Try these settings via tweak tv (theya are from the 52 inch version of series your tv is from so it' recommended to lower the contrast about 5 clicks down from what the it would be for the 52 inch (from 100 down to 95):
Source: http://www.tweaktv.com/tweak-my-tv/c...-52a650-2.html. If you want, compare it to what 28blulater suggested and see which is better. Good luck. |

Wouldn't the stuff from the 650 one be more accurate than the one for the 550? |

Alright, so I have two questions.
1) Which is better? 16:9 or Just Scan? 2) For your TV's, what kind of look do you have? Bright to where colors really pop off the screen at you or more natural (colors don't pop as much)? I see the bright colors to give off a more HD look and the more natural look to look more like it does in the movie theaters on the projectors. Which do you guys go for on your TVs? Just curious. |

2)With the tweaktv.com settings, the colors are deeper and the black levels improved a great deal compared to the cnet.com settings I was using (the ironic thing is that what got me really into calibrating my XBR9 was when I started paying attention to the colors and blacks of the movie theater projectors (I don't work at a movie theater though). Just stick with the tweaktv.com settings and you'll be fine. |

28BlusLater or anyone,
Have you noticed that when your option for 120Hz is set to "ON" that after every 1 or 2 minutes the picture would lag for half a second? It's been bothering me, and I even used the custom setting for 120Hz, but there's still the problem with the picture lagging for a split second every 1 or 2 mins for any BD disc played. I bought the Samsung LN40C610 2 weeks ago. Our TV's seem to be very similiar since it's the Samsung 6 Series. I have all new gear from new HDTV, A/V Receiver, HDMI cables, and PS3. I love the PQ when the 120Hz is set to "ON", but I turn it OFF to avoid the picture from lagging. Even if I play my BD's at 60Hz, the PQ is still beautiful (this is my 1st 1080p HDTV). Anyone have ideas to fix this problem? I checked to see if there's a software update via ethernet connection and so far there's none. I also wouldn't hesitate to even exchange it. ![]() Last edited by MaCruz; 12-29-2010 at 02:44 PM. |

Hm that's strange. I have my 120 Hz off, but I had it on for a while when I first got my TV. I don't recall there being any lag, though. I would definitely call Samsung about it to see if it's a fault of the TV you have. It's better safe than sorry! Let us know how it goes. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. |

![]() I'll call again though. That's the next thing to do right behind my new subs, and broken iPod ![]() Question, how come you have your 120Hz off? You find it better off and using your settings that you posted above? |

I had my 120Hz on for a while and one day decided to turn it off to see the difference and I found the way everything moved to look a little better. I say that the 120Hz is only really great when you're watching sports or something of the sort. Otherwise, I keep it off. |

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and exchange it on Friday from the same place I bought it, just to be on the safe side. I also got the extended warranty for 2 years from BJ's Wholesale Club for an additional $50 where I bought the TV. If I'm still experiencing this "lag" issue @ 120Hz with the exchanged TV. I'm going to return it all together and shop for a new HDTV. Not sure what, but maybe a Sony. ![]() |

If you end up having more problems with the 120Hz, I highly recommend either a Panasonic (VT-20) or Pioneer Elite Plasma. They're a couple of the best plasmas on the market. I've read nothing but rave reviews on both TVs in magazines, consumer reviews, and critics online. However, if you want an LCD LED still, go ahead and get an LG, they have the best LCD LED's right now. My next TV will be a plasma though. I don't have a problem with Sony, but I just find a lot of their stuff a lot more expensive than other brands. Last edited by 28BlusLater; 12-29-2010 at 07:02 PM. |

Just keep it in just scan then. I just hope that the sides of the image are not cut off.

I just looked up what Wingman1977 was saying about the Pioneer Elite and I guess it isn't sold anymore..what a shame. My uncle has one and it's absolutely phenomenal. I'll probably go with a Panasonic plasma when the time comes. Even when I get a new TV, I won't be going to 3D. I honestly see it as a waste of money. I prefer 2D and I'm going to look for the best Panasonic 1080P plasma that's available within in my price range and if it happens to be a 3D tv, then whatever, but I definitely won't use the 3D. |
