I tried sectionals, sofas, loveseats, and theater recliners in my theater; and I can tell you, without a doubt, that theater recliners are the best option around for dedicated theater seating.

My wife and I both thought we would like a sofa/loveseat combination better, and we were completely wrong. They are totally worth it: you can seat more people comfortably with better sightlines, and if done correctly, the WAF is through the roof. My wife frequently states (as she is reclining in "her seat"), "God, I LOVE these chairs".

I wouldn't build a theater room without them. Theater recliners, particularly motorized ones, are worth every penny. There's a reason almost every high end theater build uses them. I've yet to see anyone who has gone with theater recliners regret their purchase.

Ah, the cuddle factor. I didn't take that into account.

I like mine very much. I went with the Coaster Promenade sectional. It's a love seat in the middle, a console on each side of the love seat, and a recliner on each end. See gallery for pics.

The first thing I noticed about it, is how much better the lower frequencies resonated through this furniture than the traditional living room sectional I had before. When I flipped it over to install bass shakers.... I saw why. The underside of the love seat and consoles are built almost like speaker boxes. It seems as though sound resonance may have been a consideration in the design.

I was looking into this too. I spent way too much for La-Z-Boys after I got married and after we had a son, I don't know how in a few years...I'm not loving them as much as I used to (spent around $1,800).

Fortunately, we are not planning to have another child (knock on wood) and I have been looking at Berkline Palladiums.

But the big question for those who have purchased Berklines and such, what bells and whistles did you find that you needed. I noticed there are so many selections....with arm/without arm, with motorized function/without motorized function.... How strong is the leather?

Anyway, this is just a thought for now...

The 2 biggest things I will be looking for when the time comes is cup holders and motorized reclining. The 2nd is probably more important as manual recline really only offers 3 holdable positions "closed, foot rest up, fully reclined". Motorized would allow you to stop at any point in the full range of motion for maximum flexibility

Back in the '80s and '90s we used to have the motorized recliners but they would die out. Are the motors much better now?? I hope so. Hehe...

ya know, I really wanted movie theater seats but they just didn't fit into my room size and design. The riser had a 100" or so limitation and none of the berkline style 3-chair-rows would fit. Oh well, sometimes you compromise and it turns out just fine. I've gotten over it and I really like the comfy cozy recliners and sofa.

Question Buying suggestions for theater seats

I was wondering if members had any suggestions on where to buy seats? https://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smilies/confused.gif I figure online is probably best, but I live in the Washington DC area if someone knows a local store.

I hadn't really considered buying theater seats (figured it was money better spent on blu-rays), but I was looking over this thread and a couple of others on this site, and it made me think I should research this a little better and maybe not just stick with my old loveseat and old ugly two chair. Particularly when I see people talking about getting 3 Berklines for $500. That's around my price range, although I would probably need 4 seats. My projector is in the basement so the seats would only get used when the projector is one

if i want to sit in a theater seat, i go to the theater. ive done sectionals in the last two home installs and feel it lends a much more comfortable setting to the room.

I find the recliners just as comfortable. I like my berklines. I just think they look better in a dedicated room.

I would never do those Berkline (or similar) theater seats in a NON-DEDICATED theater room..... but that's just me...... That being said, I'd love to get some, but it's not in the budget......

I have a Berkline sofa that reclines etc... in addition to another leather sofa with two leather ottomans (which, when all is said and done, is more comfortable than the Berkline)

Me too as I'd love to have a theater room. I saw a guy on television who has a room that looks just like a theater complete with movie posters, soda and popcorn machines!

I love my theater seating. It comes per "piece" where I can switch out the middle console if I so desire and make it into a love seat or even a couch with a middle piece added (pics in my gallery.) However, I like the look of the room with one set as theater seating and the other as a love seat. The furniture both reclines and rocks for each individual seat. It is soooo comfortable, that I look forward to sitting in "my" seat every night. My room is not a dedicated room either, but our family room in the basement. A sectional or regular sized couch would have totally dominated the room and took up valuable space, where now I have a nice end table in between the 2 sets of seats.

I have a small den I use for a theater room. I want to put in a row of two theater seats. I found Seatcraft Rialto row of two with a middle flip-up arm at 4seating.com. I like this option becouse it can be recliners or loveseat. At 74 it will just make in my small space. Anyone own or know anything about this brand? I sure would like to know more about the quality before buying. Thank's
