Default PS3 Blu-ray Remote

Got this for Christmas and just wanted to let everyone on the board how I feel about it with a short review. Over all I am very happy with it. It was just so awkward to me have to use the Sixaxis for watching BD's. Here are a few Pros and Cons.

Pros
Complete control of the entire XMB.
Has an eject button (which isn't that important, but its there).
100% Bluetooth (doesn't have to be pointed directly at the PS3).
Light weight and comfortable.
Sleek and stylish.

Cons
Accidently press any button and the PS3 starts up.
Stop button is drectly above the pause button and they are the same shape buttons. So until you get the button layout memorized you may accidently stop your movie intead of pausing it.

So over all its well worth the $20 to $25 that it goes for. Im glad I own it.

Im pretty happy I bought one, its just annoying as hell if you hit any button that the PS3 turns on. I definitely prefer using this over the controller for netflix or for watching BD's. Useful for using the web browser as well

No backlit or glow in the dark buttons is my only complaint.
Took me a little while to be able to use it in the dark without hitting a wrong button.
Love the eject button & bluetooth, even though I accidentally dropped something on the remote once and it hit the eject button, spitting out the game I was playing lol

I find the BD remote clumsy and slow for web browsing and text input. The DualShock3 is much easier to use for scrolling web pages and typing in web addresses and sending messages. And if you can get the mini keyeboard that clips onto the top of the DualShock3 if QWERTY is your thing. I do agree It is much better for BD playback than the DualShock3.

I do this all the time. I usually put another remote on top of it or sometimes I'll drop it or sometimes I'll move it and trigger the PS3. Probably my biggest complaint. Would be better if just the PS button turned it on.

Yeah I've done this too. Sometimes it's not a huge problem because some BDs save where you're at but it's still kinda frustrating.

I also wish it was backlit and had the option to charge. I have enough crap to charge, but I would make time for it to avoid battery use.

It took me a whole 30 seconds to figure out how to use the SIXAXIS as a fully functional remote. I have no need for yet another remote lying around.

3x PS3 controllers
2x MOVE wands
1x MOVE navigator
1x TV remote
1x Receiver remote
1x Cable Box remote
1x HD DVD remote

The DualShock3 is perfectly functional for BD playback. I just like the feel of a Remote in my hand during BD playback

I stuck with the DualShock3 for 2 1/2 years. It's a perfectly functional for BD playback and comfortable to hold. I finally decided to buy the remote, though for a couple reasons.

Primarily, I was tired of the controller getting bumped or falling on the floor and the chapters being skipped. The remote is more stable, and I also appreciate the extra buttons (e.g. eject, subtitle, colors).

I only have two remotes for each entertainment setup. This controller and the Harmony One. Simplifying is great. Sure, I could get the adapter and bring it down to one controller but I'm happy with how everything is now.

i absolutely hate this ridiculous set up of the remote.
can't tell you the number of times i'm getting ready for bed, have everything off and then i'm putting remotes away and all of a sudden i hear that 'just loud enough so i can hear it and i know exactly what it is' beep of the ps3 turning on because i hit some random ass button on the remote

to some it may sound like a very minor complaint, but to those of us that do have the ps3 and the remote (which should be about 99%, i hate using a controller for anything but gaming) you know the pain in the ass it is with it.

i've never been so careful moving a remote in all my life until i got the ps3 remote. now i treat it like a newborn baby!

Yea man its really easy. Go to Settings. Then scroll down to Accessory Settings. Then click Register BD Remote Control. Just follow the instructions after that.

Oh man, I can't recall the amount of times the cat decided to lay down on the remote, powering up the ps3 and blasting the startup sound through my speakers.

That, and pressing the stop button instead of pause button while watching a movie in the dark. Super annoying

Ummm... that's reason #2 why I turn off the controller during viewings. Reason #1 is to save the battery life. It makes absolutely no sense to leave the controller sitting there powered on for 2 hours wasting battery life.

Another thing that people can do is set the controller to turn off after 10 minutes of non-usage. What's that you say? You come back and the controller is off? Hit the 'PS' button and you're good to go.

Good for you bro. I for one think it absolutely blows as a remote for watching Blu-rays. Its designed as a game controller. This remote is designed for movie watching. Sixaxis < BD Remote.
