So, before the holidays, I was looking for a Blu-ray player to replace my PS3. Therefore, I managed to stop by my local best buy store and I picked up the S570, which happened to be on sale. However, after the holidays I bought a 3D-TV and was given the S470 Blu-ray player as a bonus after purchasing my new 3D-TV. I still haven't opened both Blu-ray players, though; I'm not sure which one to go with. Therefore, I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions for me as far as choosing the Blu-ray player that's suitable for me. I know the S570 is wireless ready, whereas the S470 isn't. Besides that difference, which Blu-ray player is better? Or are they the same minus the wireless ready option? I would appreciate your help. Thanks!

Actually the 570 is a little thicker. The 570 is current but the new players were announced at CES. So it'll be current for a couple months.

I am not tryin to hijack this thread or nothing but instead of making a brand new one, I wanna ask the knowledgable people here whats the difference between the 270, 370, 470 etc? I dont really care about wireless because I have ethernet connection at my entertainment center. I really cant find many differences between the models and I can get the s270 at walmart for $94 right now!
Btw im coming from a panny bd60 but I am tired of it being SOOOOO slow thats why I am upgrading. |

Are you saying the 470 is much faster in loading than the 570?

The 270 does not play SACD.
The 370 adds SACD. The 470 adds 3D. The 570 adds wifi. The 770 had 3D from the start (it was added to the 570 via firmware update.) Correct any mistakes here, I own and love the 370. I have a SACD. Last edited by bhampton; 01-07-2011 at 09:25 PM. |

So theres no difference in the DVD/Blu Ray quality in the 270 vs the 370 and higher? I dont use SACD or 3d and need no wifi because I have a hard wired line there. I did check the 270 and 570 at walmart earlier and the 570 looks beefier? Maybe its built better? My local walmart had the 570 for $138 but they have none in stock.

The S570 has industry-leading BD loading times. I own one and will steadfastly attest to this. I have a Panasonic BDT300 on my main theater system and it's not as fast as my S570. My S570 is in use on my bedroom setup.
Generally, the biggest difference between the S470 and S570 is that the S470 lacks wireless network access (though it will accept Sony's proprietary USB wireless adaptor for a wireless connection). Sony's proprietary USB wireless adapter adds more cost than the difference in price between the S470 and S570, making the S570 the more economical player for those interested in using a wireless network connection. The S570 also has 1GB of built-in storage for BD-Live. I stream Netflix HD easily to my S570 via Wireless N without problem. My router is located one room away and there is virtually no loss at this proximity on my home network. |

Why not keep both? I find it very convenient to have two BD players attached to the TV. Currently watching the complete "Lost" series, I can leave that disc in one player and still watch a movie (2D or 3D) with the other player.

I got a 370 before Thanksgiving for $78. Regardless of which model you decide on, you should shop around for the best price. Lately I have noticed that Walmart is higher than other stores on a lot of items. They still have good deals, but you can't assume that Walmart is always lower.

![]() http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882105428 As you know, I have this player and it's really great, save for the Sunshine PIP issue, and evidently, the newly released Machete is a problem for some. Other than this, the player is a fine unit with amazingly fast BD loading times and the best feature-set for its price. I also stream Netflix HD content flawlessly via wireless with it. ![]() |
