Default John From Cincinnati

I see this great show is coming out on DVD in March. Do you think there is any chance it would also be coming out on Blu-ray?

While I'd always say "never say never"... I think it's far more likely you'll see series on blu ray that make it to a second season...

I would love to see this on Blu. I was very disappointed when it was canceled. I canceled HBO when they pulled the plug on it.

Lol, never saw the show. I did see a "trailer/piolot" and turned it off. Knew from the get go the show was a dud. Glad they pulled the plug.

HBO has some great shows when they think about it. Lately they have been coming out with some crap. I hope they get that fixed.

I really wanted to like this show, watched every episode and really like David Milch's style of character development but this show just didn't do it for me.

So you fans out there: what/who is John?

Yup. Same for me. Way too much in the way of style... not enough in the form of substance. I wonder if they had known better if they'd have paced it differently.

I think John is a supreme being who is freeing the divine souls of the people he encounters. I thought there must be some significance to John's last name, Monad, since it was one of the few words unique to John. Most everything else he said in the show was mimicked from other people. Searching for the word Monad brought me to Gnosticism. Monad was the highest God who created lesser gods. Reading about Gnosticism and Monad on wikipedia helped me understand what was going on on the show, but I still don't think I completely have it all figured out. One thing I thought was funny about the show was that it was virtually impossible to explain it to someone who hadn't seen it.

Not to change the subject away from John from Cincinnati or anything, but since you were talking about David Milch and all, I would love to see Deadwood come out on Blu-ray. I thought this show was absolutely fantastic. I have heard that there will be 2 2hr shows left for this series and I can't wait for it!

Not shows, 2 full length films. And I agree, this show was fantastic and deserves a Blu treatment. However, unlike most in this thread, I thought John From Cincinnati was great. Milch's writing is amazing and while I couldnt always explain what was going on, I found the show extremely entertaining and engaging. I was upset when it was cancelled, but also knew that most of the American public would not be as into the show as I was.

I too wasn't feeling this show.

I was really hoping that Season 4 of The Wire would come to Blu. Maybe after Q5 *cough*

Default Needs to be on Blu-ray

First, this show has to be seen in HD; I want to buy the DVD but having watched it in HD before, it sucks to have to go back.

Also, as a comment to those who "never watched but knew it was a dud"... do yourself a favor. Watch it. It may not be for everyone, but for a lot of people this is the best TV show ever. It isn't in any existing genre/mold, but if you watch with an open mind, you might be surprised!

I'd rather know Cissy instead, of Butchie...

Then again, I'm in that age range.

Ditto! Everytime a cutting edge show comes out on HBO (Carnival, Deadwood, John from Cinci...) They push and push (advertising) to get the "sheep" into it. Then, when the lame-o's still don't get it, because it's not soft or fake enough for them or they are just plain retarded (my apologies to the truly handicapped folks out there ) Then they cancel the said show just when things are starting to pan out. I have a deal w/ Comcast right now, but as soon as it's done, basic cable here I come GRRRRRRRR

See God Kai!!!

But I really like this show, cuz it make you think. I was kinda disappointed that they pulled the plug on it, but I can understand why. Too many people didnt understand it and it wasnt getting the ratings that they thought. But all in all I liked it.

Agreed. I only got around to watching it over the past two weeks.

My Lost S3 finally came in from Amazon yesterday and I had to check them out. They are great (and work on my 60 GB PS3), but I kept thinking that I would much rather be watching JFC.
