I think he was trying to be sarcastic... he will learn not to joke around with the format war when he starts to get hundreds of emails a day about this article.

Well, he got one thing right, which was buy a HDTV first. If people are very nervous or hesitant about getting HD player, then yea, they should wait until this stupid format war is over with. Other than that, this guy is a bad of douche.

Technical Issues

HD DVD will, eventually, be able to support larger movies and thus more bonus content with its triple-layer maximum format, but no movies have actually been released under this format. There are other differences between the two in terms of video playback and audio compression, but the differences actually manage--from what I can tell--to cancel each other out to such a degree that there is no clear technical winner in the Blu-Ray / HD DVD comparison.

OMG! I am embarrased that this guy is in the same state as me. Not all people in MI are this ignorant, I promise. He must be from Columbus, OH.

Go Blue and Go Blu!

Hmmm don't know if i agree, there is no point in having a HDTV if you have no HD signal going to it. So many average consumers think HDTV's will make their SD picture better.

Like Sony says "without Blu Ray your HDTV is just a TV".

Sorry, but he works for a MI website and is probably a big UM supporter. Truth hurts. Maybe Rich Rodriguez can stop the constant losing... nah, probably not.

I agree with that, but you still can get HD cable. I actually purchased my PS3 before I bought my HDTV. It was after my HDTV purchase that I started buying Blu-ray. But I've been a Blu supporter way before I bought my PS3.

As a resident of Columbus I can tell you that it's illegal here to own anything blue. We have an underground blu-ray speak easy and have to hide BDs between our mattresses.

I don't think there was any sarcasm in this article, just a bunch of FUD trying to hide in ignorance. I'm not even going to break down his arguments, as it will be about the hundredth time someone has had to do so with this cr@p...

ive read a lot of them. a lot of them try to make a good article by making it sound like its close and not really reveal how bad hd dvd is getting stomped on. there is quite a bit of FUD in them, but its within reason, given that it just quotes people like enderle, the HD DVD group, graffeo, etc. this article is just thrown together with things that don't even make sense. like if you want anime go with hd dvd because its region free, but considering 99% of anime is from japan and you can also get that on blu-ray because japan is in its region coding, so yeah....ummm...i don't really know what this article is about. i won't even mention if hd dvd has hardly any anime on it given japan is the anime capital and its also 99% blu, but ummm...yeah...don't get one of these players until you get an hdtv. ok....and the quality is the same. hd dvd can support longer movies to, but not yet.

thats what the article is basically like, it isn't even coherent.

Can't complain. Usually at this time we have about 3 feet of snow. It's a nice change of pace.

It's nice living in MI and being able to openly support Blu and hate Red. It's very natural.

Anime buffs take note--if you like foreign films of any stripe then the HD DVD is your weapon of choice. HD DVDs do not at last count have region coding, which means if you buy your anime straight from Japan you can slap it in the HD DVD player and play immediately. Blu-Ray discs have the option to come without region coding, but most have it. Though interestingly, Japan is in Region One, the same as the United States, so Blu-Ray becomes a problem for European and Indian films, but not for Japanese.
scratches head didn't he just completely contradict himself in his very first argument? Does he think Anime comes from Europe and India?
