Default James Bond Blu vs. DVD

Hello All,
Forgive me if this has been asked before, but do you have opinions on The Bond blus vs. their DVD counterparts? I have all the films on DVD and am curious if you think it is worth upgrading now, or should I wait for yet a new restoration in a few years?

I have Dr No and Goldfinger and they're knockouts on bluray. Definitely worth an upgrade if you have a big screen.

Pretty much all of the available Bond Blus are knock outs. Vastly superior to any DVD counterpart, and that includes the impressive Ultimate Edition set from a few years back.

I have all of them, each is pretty damn amazing. Get them at a good price, and you wont be disappointed. I got mine off ebay for like 27 per 3 movie set.

They're pretty fantastic looking across the board. As someone who's seen the films dozens of times across VHS, DVD and Blu Ray, the upgrade on the Blu Rays is by and large stunning.

There are only two that I felt were middling in terms of picture quality - For Your Eyes Only and (especially) The World is Not Enough.

Then again, TWINE always had a dull and diffused look, even in theaters...

The Connery Bonds have the most extensive restorations so I would start with those at least. I doubt they'll revisit them for many, many years.

Unlike some other titles where it seems difficult to notice little to any upgrade in image quality from dvd to hd, the Bond blu's are significantly better than dvd and worth the upgrade hands down.

Save for rare instances, the blu-ray will always blow away the DVD. That said, I'm waiting on the complete uber-boxed set of Bond Blu-ray titles as the DVDs suffered one too many double-dips in their time.

a new restoration? MGM hasn't even released the rest of the collection on BDs because of financial problems. It may take years for a new restoration maybe 10 years after the collection has been released or multi-dips. If you can wait for 2020 then it's up to you.

If you really like the Bond films, then I would recommend upgrading them to blu-rays. They look fantastic. However, if your liking for the Bond films is average (like mine), it is not worth the investment to repurchase the Bond films on blu-ray, as you could buy other blu-rays that you may possibly enjoy more.

Trust me. When it comes to Blu or DVD, for Bond, I DEMAND you get Blu. The PQ and AQ is amazing.

When I first read about the Lowry process I was skeptical to say the least but the results definitely speak for themselves.

I watched Dr. No on bd via Netflix and I'm thinking I'm going to be getting the Connery stuff on bd when I find a great deal. I highly recommend them. It is like watching the movie for the first time. I caught things that I've never seen in the over 35+ years of watching Bond.

I've only seen Dr. No on blu-ray so far, but I don't see another restoration getting much more out of the negative for that movie.

If you happen to enjoy Moonraker, then get the BD. The scenic shots look second to none and really shows off HD at its best.

The blus are much better than their DVD cousins. I plan to buy all of them when they are all released. Although I'm tempted to buy Connery's early.

Not sure what screen you have but Dr. No looks better than most blus in my collection and so does for your eyes only for that matter,

I've watched Goldfinger, From Russia With Love and Thunderball and I thought the PQ on all was excellent.

Some of the ocean shots (Blofeld's yacht, the boat chase) in From Russia With Love were particularly gorgeous.
