Default Laptop recommendation with HDMI and 12-13 inch size monitor

Hi,

Can anyone make some recommendation on a brand and model that fits two of my requirement - HDMI and 12-13 inch size monitor? Of course, a brand/model that is known for reliability.

The laptop is going to be used mainly for surfing and running basic application (quicken, turbotax, etc). No gaming.

Thanks in advance,

hehehe....I found an article....saying Toshiba is probably the most reliable laptop out there so I'm going to head in that direction.

Why would one need a laptop with a HDMI port if it's intended for basic application use and surfing?

you can always get a DVI to HDMI cable or get a DVI connector for a HDMI. Unless it has a VGA port. I don't know if there's cables like that for VGA.

There are VGA->Component cables. If his sister has a tv with VGA she could use a VGA->VGA connector also.

Most laptops some with at least vga or s-video out.

well..somehow one of her friend convinced her to buy a $1500 on a Macbook Pro with a 13 inch screen size I recommend her an Asus or Toshiba...well..it's her money and choice. I prefer a Lenovo because they seem to be the only one that makes the red point mouse. I don't know how people can use the pad mouse....

thanks again for everyone's feedback.

IBM still sells laptops with that red pointer? That's crazy. Personally, I always use a regular mouse whenever possible.

Of course! I don't know how ya do it....I like using my index finger to control the mouse...not sure how ya keep sliding the pad around...LOL...

If Lenovo ever discontinued that, then I'll have to buy a portable mouse. That's why my T42p is still going strong...time for a new T series if the price is right.
