Strange thing to pop up on Blu-ray and it's only £8.99 on pre-order http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004IZ3VLI/

I like Bean in some things but not this IIRC. Has the great -and just passed on sadly- Pete Postlethwaite.

Also http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/1...s/Product.html and all the usual places no doubt.

I always had a soft spot for this film, so ordered it... big mistake. The quality is below DVD-standard, without a doubt one of the worst Blu-ray transfers I've seen. It really winds me up, this does no good at all for the format. Needless to say I'm returning it to Amazon. Just something to be aware of if anyone's considering a purchase...

I like both actors. Is worth a rental?

I'd say yes, it's a good film for a rent, long as you're not expecting too much! Sean Bean's always good value.

It's a shame the pq is bad, as I really like the film. Looks like an early DVDs transfer. Very soft focus and washed out. It looks clean though hardly any dirt etc.

Not sure if it is better than the DVD as I don't own it. Just watched it for the first time today with my son. It's watchable, but only just!

Better than nothing though.

Exhuming a hyperold thread but I was listening to the Film Stories podcast about this film yesterday and realised I'd never seen it despite recalling it being released way back in 1996.

Just a film I always intended to see just never got round to. Is the Blu Ray really a load of pickled old smelly pants? What's wrong with it that it's not worth a cheeky punt?

I had a look there on iTunes. It looks like the same source the Blu Ray might use? Crikey it does look a bit pants doesn't it? Perhaps a film crying out for a new scan?

Think I might just rent/buy it from iTunes and be done with it til a better source emerges. Cheers for the heads up though.
