Question Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker HD coming to PS3

Metal Gear Solid HD trilogy coming to PS3?
Quote:
An HD reworking of the original Metal Gear Solid trilogy is on the way to PS3, according to 'insider whispers' heard by the ears of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine.

In the mag's new issue, in stores now, it reports that Snake is "in the facelift queue", and that the "first three" MGS games are set to be reborn in High Definition.

No details of release window, price or whether the trilogy will be a boxed or digital product are given.

However, any reworking of Kojima-san's much-loved original trio will be music to the ears of PlayStation nuts, with the games still very much considered classics of the genre.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots is currently the only MGS title to be released for PS3. It enjoys a very healthy 94 per cent average review score on Metacritic. Could it be joined by its predecessors in full HD later this year?

We've contacted Sony for comment.
Yes, please!

Sony: We do not comment on rumours and speculation. Especially on games that are not our own.

This brings up an interesting Q: Will MGS be the PSone version or the Twin Snakes version?

Either way, thats good news (could Konami do the same for Silent Hill next?).

It'll be interesting to see how the story began since I've only played MGS4.

This would be good since I never beat MGS 3. I have the game still but my Ps3 is not backwards compatible. Hopefully they include 16x9 support and trophies for all 3 games.

Well surely if these are released with trophies then surely a patch for number 4 would be following (STILL, haven't played it and had it since launch!!)

I would definitely buy this. My bet is, if it exists, that it'll be in 3D too. Konami is already working on a 3D version for MGS3, a lot of these HD classics are in 3D (ICO, PoP, Sly, etc) so I expect the same from a MGS collection.

If they revamped all of them with the latest gameplay, graphics and sound that would be cool. Well even better if the combat is improved over MGS4 for all of them.

I would by this. Loved the first game on the psone. Would be great if you unlocked the games from the NES.

This is the best news I've heard in a while. I've always dreamed for this It's funny because I was thinking of replaying the MGS games again today. I have the MGS Collection and it never get old

MGS is hands down the best series I've had the pleasure of playing.

You would think with all the other titles being ported that MGS would be among those. I'm not getting too excited yet though until something more substantial is said about it.

Sucks for those that don't have the backwards compalibility to play the orignal MGS games. Snake Eater is my favorite game of all time

I still have my copy of MGS3 and a working PS2 but I just hate hooking up standard def gaming consoles to an HD tv. They always look like crap and I hate ruining the memory of the game's graphics I have stored in my head. HD remake would make the graphical transition a lot smoother like with God Of War collection.

I have to agree with Blustation on this one....While trophies are definitely great for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc time around, holding off your first playthrough because of not having trophies is extreme. MGS4 is hands down one of the most INCREDIBLE video game experience, especially if you've played the others in the series. It will take you everywhere emotionally, ultimately leading to a Chuck Norris caliber climax

Not going to happen, that's not the point of these "remastered" versions. They're the same games, just in higher resolution...the CGI movies aren't even remastered.

I hope MGS has the original music, and not the goofy soundtrack Twin Snakes had.

I agree. The part of the game when Snake is
[Show spoiler]crawling through the microwave hallway
was so damn emotional.

Yeah I feel you. While it's not much better on PS3 at least you can upscale it and mess around with it. After I played MGS4, I went back and replayed all the MGS games over again. It's one game that I enjoy no matter what it looks like. HD remake would be great and I've always looked foward to it. Hopefully it comes true so you can enjoy some more Snake Eater

Yes it was. The ending fight
[Show spoiler]between Snake and Ocelot is just epic!
MGS4 was great but would rank 3rd for me.

MGS3
MGS1
MGS4
MGS2

Enjoy every single game but that is how I would rate them. MGS4 was a lot different from the previous games. It wasn't bad at all but just a little different.

Then I really hope it happens because you need to finish it. It's without a doubt my favorite game of all time! It will make Big Mama seem so much cooler while she's on her Bike
