As much as I'd like to get my hands on one of these. I'll have to pass in the meantime until game developers start announcing release dates for 3DS titles that aren't mediocre.

If I can at least get Super Street Fighter IV 3D, I'll be happy. Heck, I'll just be happy to get the 3DS, not like there aren't any pre-installed little games.
I think its a safe bet for SF4 to be a launch title. Its probably the strongest franchise in the bunch. I would have said nintendogs would be top seller day one, but I'm guessing because of the march launch most of the sales would be to the over 20's age bracket rarther than adults picking one up for the kids.

But I'm betting closer to the date that more companies will have bundles, my bet would be 3DS and 2 games. Most likely a decent one packed with a not so decent one.

But as it stands right now with my pre order, they havent anounced any bundles, so it looks like I'll be getting the console from them and getting the games online, £40 is a bit too rich for my blood, I dont even pay that for my PS3 games lol

Shouldnt have to wait too long. June is most likely when Nintendo will confirm dates for all their 1st party titles they anounced, like mario kart zelda kid icarus etc. They could release one every 2 months from june and that would have them sorted for the rest of the year.

The only other two titles I want asap this year are MGS3 and Resi.

And I'm hoping that the 3rd title for the Pokemon Black and White games (Pokemon Grey?) Is a 3DS title, because we heard last January that the Pokemon company had a 3DS dev kit for quite some time. So fingers crossed they had a team working slowly on that alongside the DS titles. I don't fancy waiting another 3 years for the 6th gen games to appear.

A Wired report earlier this week claimed that the new handheld's eStore would not be ready on the day of release and would be added in later via a firmware update.

However, a spokesperson for Nintendo told Eurogamer today that although neither an internet browser nor the eStore would be included in the console's "initial firmware" they will be "updated on day one".

The eStore is where you'll be able to download DSiWare titles, retro Game Boy classics, game demos, trailers and new digital titles made exclusively for the 3DS.

That's great if it's true. I love that I can preview videos of games in 3D, that's a nice touch.

I really would love to own the 3DS. But with the battery life really low on it(while in 3D), it kinda bothers me.

Normally with a regular DSi,DS lite, etc. I can play that and may not have to charge my battery for 1-2 months. Usually I spend 30mins -1 hour at a time and maybe 2 hours max in a day. Then I may not play it for a couple of weeks or so.

But only having a battery life of (3-5 hours?). I would have to charge it every week, if not sooner.

I don't see why you should be concerned to be honest. It comes with a cradle (like, say, a cordless phone) to safely place it in when it's not in use, so it should be charging often anyway. It also comes with an adapter to use anywhere. Not to mention you can find car chargers even now (It works with DSi chargers) that are pretty cheap.

I don't see a huge issue with it's battery life considering the options. And like you said, you wouldn't be playing it for more than 2 hours at a time anyway. When you're finished playing, drop it in the cradle. Done.

Another thing, like with the other DS systems, you'll be seeing a crazy amount of 3rd party accessories like extended battery units. Don't let the battery life keep you from getting it.

Something for those waiting for a "3DS Lite"

Quote:
Speaking in the latest Iwata Asks interview on the platform holder's official site, 3DS hardware designer Kenichi Sugino revealed that, thanks to lessons learned during production of the DS Lite, it will be tough to further slim down the new handheld with any future hardware revisions.

"The first thing (Nobuo) Nagai-san, who's in charge at the Uji plant, said to me when he looked over the designs for Nintendo 3DS before mass production began was 'This time it's fully packed right from the start'," recalled Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata.

"Oh, really?" replied Sugino. "But he was right. That's why we don't have any short-term plans for creating a more compact version of Nintendo 3DS like we did with Nintendo DS Lite."

"Yeah," added Iwata. "When making Nintendo 3DS, we used all our tricks for Nintendo DS Lite - and more - for cutting down on size right from the start."

On top of there being no immediate plans for a 3DSlite, like the Wii I can't see the price going down anytime soon either. The 3DS is already a pretty solid device, I'm not sure what people are waiting for. It's not like future versions of the hardware will be cheaper.

I can't see it getting much smaller or having brighter screens. Perhaps the battery life will improve by then, but I've already explained why that's a non-issue with me personally, so not really a concern. Bigger screens? That would make my 62 year old dad happy. Improved 3D technology for wider viewing angles? Now thats something to upgrade for, but who's to say that'll actually happen.

I just don't understand what people are waiting for, especially since there's nothing to wait for at the moment. I'm going a little crazy waiting for the next two months, let alone another two or three years for a price drop and/or upgraded system.

OK here's a question.. If I pre-order the Nintendo 3DS would you get a story warranty.. Wal-Mart warranty seems the cheapest for 2 years, then Best Buy, then Toys R Us.. What do you think about store warranty's??

I'm going with Super Street Fighter IV 3D and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. It's probably the first Nintendo system I'm buying without a first-party game on it's release, but at least I'll have the AR games.

Two words: Rip off. I never buy an extended warranty on anything, especially electronics. This is especially true with game consoles. Unlike Microsoft, Nintendo tends to make quality products with low defect rates, so a warranty on a 3DS would seem an especially big waste of money.

Agreed. Unless they cover acidental damage. Such as water damage etc. In that case, depending on your circumstances I'd get one. My little brother has been through 5 DS's so it was worth it for his. But mine I didnt bother as I still have an Original Gameboy in perfect condition I don't see me damaging this

Yep, I too have owned countless Nintendo consoles. I've owned the NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, and every handheld at one time or another in my life and outside of the need to blow in the NES to get certain games to work (which was common with all cartridge consoles) I've never had a major hardware issue. Nintendo is extremely reliable with products they make.

Yeah, very good build quality. My brother is 7 and doesnt exactly treat them with care as some kids do. The 3 that broke were down to him constantly opening and closing the thing and droping it on the floor leading the hinge to break. Obviously not Nintendos fault. And the 4th time he spilt coke all over it.

Every Nintendo console and handheld I've owned has never failed me, where as I went through 2 PS2. My PS3 is still holding up after 4 years same as the wii
