Default Waited until CES to buy but...

So I'm looking for some advice. Around Spetember/October last year, I was ready to splurge and finally upgrade my old 720P Panasonic Plasma. A friend said 'Wait until after CES, there will be some groundbreaking new technologies for 3D you'll be upset you missed out on'. So I did.

In the weeks leading up to CES, I started to hear the Passive rumors. Sure enough, Passive was delivered. But I just dont hear a lot of talk about it?

I hear about Vizio (at half the resolution?!) and I hear about SOME Samsungs. But only some models? I didnt hear about anything Passive out of either Panasonic or Sony. Are those two both sticking with Active/Shutter?

I guess my question is: Did I miss anything? Or will last years models be comparable still with this years models. Sure, aside from the new tech they will improve quality a bit, less shutter, etc. Are last year's model's still a viable option for someone looking to get a good price? Or would anyone else hold out for this year's models?

I didn't hear any leaps and bounds either.I'm pretty sure active shutter will be around for a bit.

Ultra-D (Stream-TV / SeeCubic) did a press conference yesterday, but I don't know what they said yet; somebody here knows more?

On a side-note, two weeks ago they announced a cooperation with IzonTV, planning to release a glasses-free 3D-TV with 4K resolution (1080p per eye?) in 65" this year still! I'll keep my fingers crossed...
