Yeah, I'd really prefer that one. I could never get into any of the Kids WB iterations of Batman. Even the series they tried to pass of as "Volume 4" of Batman: The Animated Series is really pushing it. Just give me the 1992-1995 seasons of the show and Mask of the Phantasm (and on a generous day, SubZero, which is very good but still feels inconsistent) and I'll be happy.

We really need Batman:The Animated Series on blu-ray. I'm still mad the dvd boxset sold out before I could buy it. Mask of the Phantasm would be cool also. I never cared for batman beyond, or any of the animated batman shows than came after it.

I love that one, but for once can we just be happy that they're giving us something? It's like all the people who crapped on the Incredibles news with their "but where's Nemo" stuff. I'd love to see these on Blu as well, but I appreciate what they do, when the do it.

Agreed both are two of the finest Superhero movies ever made. Return of the Joker was given an awful non-anamorphic DVD release. A properly done Blu-Ray will be amazing.

I watched a couple of episodes, either from the bonus features of Batman: Under the Red Hood BD or my own DVDs of the season sets. Enjoyed them, but lemme just put this out there. The cels have a lotta dirt on them; I think even Bruce Timm has pointed this out on a commentary or interview. So I wouldn't expect them to appear pristine on BD. But I'd still pick 'em up on BD because Batman's my #1 superhero.

…in its original aspect ratio I hope. I remember watching this in theatres and getting upset that the tops of characters' heads were off screen in their close-ups because the TV ratio was cropped for theatrical screens.

I'm happy for those that like Return of the Joker, it's enjoyable no doubt. However, many consider Mask of the Phantasm to be one of the best Batman movies ever, animated or live. I know it just fell short of it's budget at the box office, but I'm sure it has done OK on video. DC has kicked tail in the animated video market, it would be nice to see the precurser to this success get the royal treatment.

Batman: The Animated Series needs to be seriously remastered for Blu-ray, but I bet sales would easily justify the costs. That show is loved by millions of fans and would make a great release to coincide with the new Batman film.

Agreed. DC has hopefully given blu-ray a second chance with catalog titles. The day and date stuff always did pretty well, but Justice League Season One received horrible sales, making them shy away from it. If this does well, we can probably expect them to expand upon their catalog offerings. No doubt, that would include Phantasm. As with many things in life, if you want to see more of something, support it. If you don't, and it goes away, don't be surprised.

Ultimately, it would be great for them to be confident in the sales market enough to release more Justice League seasons. My season 1 set continues to look lonely.

Um, I have it on VHS and DVD. I've watched it many times. I'd say I'm included in that "many". That said, I'll repeat that people don't need to steal the thunder from the news of one film's release to bring up another (like people did with Finding Nemo on The Incredibles news). Don't misunderstand me. I really really want to see MOTP on Blu too, but we need to be grateful for one step at a time.
