Default Out of These Films, Which One is the Best?

Which of these classics do you consider the true heir to the throne of the mega-super-cinema-kingdom?

I've only seen Battlefield Earth and that was when it first hit video. I don't remember much about it other than there were a LOT of dutch angles.

I went with Xanadu because it is pure cheese, and Olivia Newton John was pretty hot back in the day.

Yeah, me too. Xanadu is pretty goofy, but it's completely watchable.

CHUD is a very entertaining flick. I've got it on DVD and will upgrade to blu-ray when it comes out.

Love the fact that Daniel Stern and John Heard are both in it. It's like a Home Alone prequel!

So, any bets on how far the mods will go to final-solution EVERY Apr. 1 post?

(edit: Holy cats, they killed it just while I was responding!)

Let me (sigh) guess....You've NEVER SEEN Xanadu in your life, but you put it on the list, because somebody else's (or two or ten or five hundred) goofball worst-ever lists put it on for the exact same gag: Am I..within the general ballpark?

(Let's try this common-example one: Which July/August 1980 musical had ELO on the soundtrack and which one had the Village People?
You'd be surprised how many folks on the street say, "Wait, Can't Stop the Music had the 'YMCA' number, and then they all went rollerskating...No wait, I remember Steve Guttenberg was rollerskating, but I thought Olivia Newton-John was in it!...Well, wait, where did the guy from The Warriors come in?--Was that the cartoon number? "
If so, the defense rests. )

I put it to you that Xanadu is One Darn Good Movie--not only by virtue of having Gene Kelly in it--and dare you to prove me wrong. I challenge your honor, sir (glove-slap!).

(And for the record, B2:EB was just on Instant Netlix a few months ago--And like the harmless, affable, feel-good shoestring budget original, it was....okay, but as pleasantly "meh " as Golan/Globus ever got on their best mainstream-breakout days.)

Xanadu plays on a continuous loop in my head, 24/7.

And what's this about April Fools Day? This poll was posted months ago.

ELO is to Xanadu what The Village People is to Can't Stop the Music. As an extra bonus, add Donna Summer to the equation and you get Thank God it's Friday.

Why art thou mad at me, Knave? I stated that the films above were all classics. (I just didn't state why type of classics they were.)

I'll see your continuous loop, and raise you "Digital copy on my iPod, and once tried to track down a shooting script to find a legendary twenty minutes of deleted scenes."

You have to put into context why it was made:
People were just discovering old movies after Star Wars, and Xanadu was the Donny & Marie generation just discovering what they thought were "Old MGM musicals".
(The whole "rollerskating in a music-video studio" scene was supposed to be an homage to Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds on a movie set in "Singin' in the Rain".)

Yyyep--Can't historically tell 'em apart, and beating up on the decade whipping boy, aren't we?
(FTR, caught Can't Stop on Instant Netflix, and dear lords, what a misconceived closet-outed train wreck. Don't think we X-fans haven't lived with the guilt-by-association for thirty years...)

Somebody had the brilliant burst of creative inspiration to use the old thread to Photoshop "CHUD - Special Edition Blu-ray".
(Since "Star Wars Holiday Special - SE Blu-ray set" hadn't occurred to him, you see.)

...Our mods were swift as eagles, and as merciless.

I've only seen Battlefield Earth and Xanadu. Hardly remember B.E. at all... I love the Don Bluth animated scene in Xanadu.

I'll go with Mommie Dearest. It's the most watchable for me.
