lets see there is bourne, transformers, knocked up, serenity, casino, The Matrix, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, Fear and Loating in Las Vegas, after that Im really struggling to see what would be the appeal, 3 of those will come to blu-ray within the next year, its not worth the money or the fact that it prolongs the war. if you just will be patient most of those minus transformers will be on blu-ray proably in 16 months.

Default Wowsers!!

Somebody out there actually thinks that Miami Vice was a good movie? Amazing. I find that most movies on HDdvd are those stupid comedies like balls of fury, BOG, etc that teenagers dig but aren't much for me. To each their own I guess.

a lot of those transfers suck, and an upscaled dvd is practically as good. i can live without buying an hd dvd player as i have a lot of these older catalog titles already on dvd and can upscale them.

i thought miami vice was on both formats. either way i heard the trasnfer is one of the worst ever.

don't forget Smoking Aces (love that movie) but like stockstar said, do not prolong the war, deal w/ them on DVD for right now, they will eventually make it to the bluside

BoG and Balls of Fury are nothing that teenagers dig. Ive never been over to anybody's house and had anybody suggest watching something like that (im a teenager just to clarify). These types of stupid movies are getting really old, really fast with the teen demograph.

No. No, not really. The only ones they have that I'd like would be Slither, Transformers, Batman Begins and the Matrix. Two of the latter are probably going to hit BD in the future.

Meanwhile, looking at my favorite BDs, there's not a single one of them on HD DVD. And many more BD exclusives I'm getting that have yet to be released.

Hmm...so who's buying these movies? I guess the answer has to be nobody, because I don't know that any grown ups watch these lame movies. Maybe they'll quit making so many like them.

did you notice how not one of those supposed comedies (hot rod, anchorman, old school, mr. bean) made the top 10 for hd dvd a few weeks ago, if something doesn't make the top 10 it most likely sold less than 8k copies on hd dvd. given that most movies are 25 bucks, these studios are making less than 200,000 in revenue of these movies which i have to question why they are even releasing these movies then on hd dvd, because they can't be making any cash off them. oh wait MS is paying them too.

That's true, but they must be making some money or they'd quit making idiotic movies like this. I wonder if they're making money mostly on DVD's and rentals?

The movies made money, from DVD and ticket sales but re-releasing those movies way later on HD is hard to do. (which, in my mind these films really do not show anything that I would want to see in HD; i like expolsions and action in HD content; Thats like me buying the holiday on Blu, it will never happen; it's a decent movie but not a have to buy HD title, you know)

Am I missing something here???

I read through the list, and yes, there are a few titles I would like to have (come on Warner, get Batman out on Blu-Ray already), but for the most part, I am not all choked up about the "exclusive" titles I am missing from HDDVD.

Transformers was on HD PPV on DirecTV this last month and is conveniently stored on my HD DVR (a little grainy, but looks/sounds fantastic and only cost me $4.99), and I don't really want Shrek and can't stand Will Farrell or Blades of Glory, so what am I missing here?!? (Besides Pirates, Cars, Ratatouille, Casino Royale, CEOTTK, Spider Man, etc. which all look phenomenal and are BD exclusive)

Have you seen Casablanca? that is one of the best movies of all time. It still stands up even to this day. WB has to put this out on Blu..

I don't know why but I don't find the movies on HD-DVD the least bit appealing. Their best movies seem to be comedies or WB movies that are going to be released on Blu-Ray eventually. I'm not bashing the format, I guess I'm bashing Universal and Paramount. Their movies just seem mostly mediocre (both movie wise and pq/aq wise).

You've got the grass is greener mentality...I'll bet the guys on the other side feel the same way. I'm really happy with the Blu selection. Of course I'm waiting for those WB titles, but other than those there are a select few that I would buy right now. Bourne, Transformers and The Kingdom...probably Eastern Promises. Blu is the only way to be.
