Metro Goldwyn Mayer The Last House on the Left (1972)

Anyone else excited this will be released on BR?
I see no love for this Wes Craven classic around this site

I dont think the PQ will be all that great because the DVD releases seemed to be dirty, and as someone else posted on the front page, at 9.99 it doesnt look like MGM put any effort into them. Still this film had some good sequences in the forest that might look good on HD. I am looking very forward to this one, I like the original horror classics to be coming on BR!

I read on another forum that this blu-ray combines the special features from the most recent Collector's edition and the original edition. Most of the extras from the first release were missing from the second.

I still have two questions...

* What is the aspect ratio: 16mm film is 4x3. Will we get a cropped widescreen transfer or a pillarboxed full screen transfer?
* Is this a new transfer? Both DVDs used the same transfer and based on the release date of the original DVD, it cannot have originated from a hidef master.

I don't expect anyone to know the answers, but these are simply my reservations. The person who mentioned the special features also mentioned that his best buy did indeed have the film in-store.

what did MGM do? just take the regular dvd and put in in a bluray disc switched the case and voila, picture and sound are terrible. very disappointed.

as a movie collector i demand MGM to take this movie and do it all over again, there should be a requirement as to what can be called bluray movie and if a movie doesn't meet those requirements, it shouldn't be allowed to be released on bluray. come on guys let's get together and make these companies not just take our money. i am replacing all my regular dvd's with bluray as they are available. i bought this one on sunday and decided not to get rid of the dvd since i couldn't tell the difference.

Is it really that bad, Someone on a Horror Forum stated it looked great and was a big improvement. Can I ask what size screen you viewed it on?

Im sure it will probably will be like the Overboard BD, just cheap old transfers, but I rather that than nothing. The onoy thing I do hope is that its not cropped or anything.

As someone who has owned every previous home video version of this film I can tell you that this release is the best I have ever seen it look.

It is still rough looking but thats to be expected. it certainly is more detailed
than past releases. The disc has a fairly high bitrate, staying around the 38mbps range.
I don't see it getting much better than this...

I am a bit confused by these Best Buy exclusives. I want to get both The Last House on the Left and I Spit On Your Grave. Are all of the exclusive titles available in store? I Spit On Your Grave doesn't release until next week. So is it exclusive to Best Buy because they will have it in-store before then?

All the extras from the original MGM and the reissued MGM are on it apparently.

Picked it up at best buy even though they told me they told me they didn't have it. It definitely looks better than ever, but mot much. I tried playing the extras and my disc simply stops. It seems to only happen on the features ported from the first dvd - outtakes, forbidden footage, "its only a movie." Everything else works. Am I the only one?

Might grab this one. Was pretty intense when I first saw it. Didn't mind the remake.

Just went to Best Buy and came back pissed.

They didn't have this or I Spit on Your Grave and they said they only had 3 copies of each movie and all o them were sold.

Last House on the Left is now on backorder online. Why only request so few copies?!

I watched this last night on Netflix streaming. Probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Everything, directing, acting (or lack of it) the music (seemed like comedy music) no atmosphere whatsoever.
