I'm a bit surprised there have been no "where is Titanic?" posts in this thread yet, in response to news of two earlier James Cameron films expected on arrive on Blu this year. Really looking forward to The Abyss, hopefully it will include both versions, I have only seen the extended version and while that was a great film, I would still like to see the shorter version, if just to compare them. True Lies is also good fun, but not something I'd be rushing out to buy on Day 1.

I thinks it's a given at this point that Titanic on blu-ray isn't in the cards until next year (the 100th anniversary) and the new 3D version of the movie.

Lets hope that The Abyss wont be the first "non-anamorphic" blu-ray.

I'm a little concerned about True Lies for the UK market. I'm sure the transfer will be Cameron-approved before the Blu is released, however Universal holds the release rights to the film over here rather than Fox, meaning we might well not get it at the same time, and I don't know how likely the chances of getting the same transfer are. Universal have screwed up a number of transfers which didn't get supervised and/or approved by the directors (The Game is a notable example).

The SE DVD of The Abyss contained both versions on one disc, in addition to including a small booklet that detailed the additions to the theatrical version. Hopefully the Blu-Ray does the exact same thing.

Love True Lies...and would rather have Titanic over The Abyss any day. Just could never get into that movie.

About damn time these get released in proper form. I broke down and bought True Lies on DVD for $5, but the quality of horrendous and the non-anamorphic presentation really blows. Can't wait, one of the best action movies ever.

Regardless the movie will be on my shelf, day 1.
I didn't see any obviously fake double in that movie, but weren't looking hard for it either.Hope you don't refer to the swimming under the burning water because there was a magazine article about that scene where Cameron said he never asked the actors to do things he wouldn't do.Not 100% sure of this, but 98

Which scenes were you refering to?

I would be surprised as well, but you never know.

Day 1 for me on both these titles. Love The Abyss EE.
As a previous poster mentioned, Cameron should fix the scenes with Arnold's doubles. It's horrible and very obvious, even on laserdisc.

The action scene in the beginning when Arnold(his double) is being chased in the woods.

The Abyss will be a day one for me. It is one of those movies I can watch over & over. It's been at or near the top of my wish list since I purchased our first BD player... Even longer considering it never had an anamorphic DVD release.

True Lies I can take or leave. Come to think of it, I never upgraded my VHS copy to DVD.

Lets hope Cameron gives us the SE extended cut of True Lies,I heard there was a bunch of deleted scenes,i would love to see these back in via seemless branching. Cameron is known for releaseing exteneded versions of his films - Aliens,T2,The Abyss,Titanic,Avatar now lets hope the same with True Lies, this will be reference material folks, especially in the sound department.

I am looking forward to both titles day one purchases.
