Has anyone caught this announcement yet? It's been announced as coming out on March 29th. While Blu-ray.com hasn't posted an image of it yet, I have discovered the image for this release:
![]() I thought I had seen the announcement for Star Trek III/Star Trek VI, but apparently it has been taken down from retailer websites. My only question is why Paramount isn't releasing these in order such as Star Trek/Star Trek II, Star Trek III/Star Trek IV and so forth. |

Not only that but isn't Star Trek II, III and IV considered a trilogy within the movie series since they are all so connected together by the same originating plot?
While Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan involved the [Show spoiler] Spock, we saw in Star Trek III that that plot would continue on with Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and end with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.I would just think that Paramount would release these films in order or, at least, include Star Trek III and Star TRek IV in the same release since those are more connected than Star Trek II. Soon as I find a copy of the cover art for Star Trek VI/Star Trek First Contact, I'll be sure to post that. Last edited by Deciazulado; 02-15-2011 at 03:19 AM. |

They did release 2, 3 & 4 as a trilogy. I just find it silly to release these bundled together because the Even number movies were all released individually already. I guess it is just redundant. |

Love the packaging, but bloody hell this is the 4th release on these in some form of pack on Blu ray.
You have them individually, then you have the 1-4 pack and you can also get the box set of all the film's and now this. I've only seen First Contact (which I loved) and I've heard these 2 are the best out of the film's. Do you really miss out on much by not watching the odd numbered film's? |

#2 ends on a (SPOILER) cliffhanger for Spock, which producers actually thought was going to retire Leonard Nimoy from the series. But fan demand called him back, so #3 became "The Search For Spock", which wrote in an entire plot to explain how he could come back, and #4 begins with him back rejoining the crew--Although still not completely recovered from his experiences in #3, which becomes part of the thematic subplot. (Any other details withheld. ![]() ![]() Pretty much just a rental, but it'll help. The OTHER odd-numbered #1, 5 & 9 you can safely skip, as they stick out like sore thumbs. (And probably #7, too, as you already know the Next Generation characters, and they never had a better movie than First Contact.) Last edited by EricJ; 02-14-2011 at 08:56 PM. |

![]() (And it was marketed as a Trilogy on one DVD release, which caused some fans to giggle that a "trilogy" was 2, 3 & 4, as #1 never existed.) Quote:

That would be sweet. Of course, they'd have to brush up the special effects on some of the films. For instance, the director's cut of the first film wasn't included on the Blu because the additional effects were rendered in 480i. But if any franchise is popular enough to warrant the expense - Star Trek is definitely it. Besides, we all know double-dipping is the studios favorite game. I'm slightly paraphrasing a Morrissey lyric here: "Re-issue! Re-package! Re-evaluate the films! Double-pack with a photograph, extra special feature and a tacky badge!"

Have to admit that I personally detested Star Trek V. IN particular, that turbo-shaft elevator scene where it's obvious that the movie editor must have been smoking crack because the floor levels seem to go up and down several times before Kirk, Spock and McCoy arrive at the top of the turbo-shaft.
It wasn't hard to notice because it was as obvious as the nose on your face. I watch the movie, from time to time, but it may be like a year or two apart when I do watch it. |

The Trekkie in my life is one who hates 1 and 5 and has 2 and 4 on Blu, so I'm thinking about getting him the UK release of 3 for his birthday (since buying the trilogy would be redundant).
Are the special features region-locked on that release (we were both very disappointed when he bought Escape From New York from the UK just to have the extras and they were locked from my region-A player) or is it an import where everything is region-free? |
