It doesn't work. The PS3 can browse the iPod's folders but needs a firmware update to play back any DRM'd files.

I have been trying to get my ipod to connect to my ps3 but it doesn’t seem to work. When I connect it I see the little “thinking” icon up at the top right of my TV screen and the top left corner of my ipod screen. At this point I expect to see the USB drive(ipod) option pop up under “movies” but nothing comes up.
My ipod has the don’t remove the USB cable message on the screen but nothing shows up on my ps3 menu. From what I have seen it’s now entirely possible to connect you ipod up and watch movies from your ipod. I called up Sony and they said its impossible for the ipod to connect to the ps3. So what am I doing wrong? |

I don't have an iPod but it is great for my Sansa E280. Reads everything off of it just fine. Also I can plug my Sd Micro into the SD adapter and that into the reader on the 60gb PS3 and drag stuff back and forth.
The Sansa though is mainly drag and drop operation and really no DRM to speak of. ![]() |

1. Follow the link posted previously. Triangle/Display All is your friend. 2. iPods can (I think) initially be formatted for either windows or Mac depending on which OS you initialize it from.. if it's Mac based maybe the directory structure is not readable. I think Fat32 (windows) is required for the PS3..that's a guess not 100% sure. |

After connecting the Ipod to the PS3 is it possible to copy music files to the hard drive. This would seem like an easier way to load music to the PS3 than ripping from disc.

Go to music on XMB. Select the ipod/usb device or memory cards for that matter. Select a file or folder, hit the triangle button and you will see an option to copy, delete etc. There should also be a Copy multiple menu item that will be available a bit higher up..I moved mine over using an external USB drive.

Well good news and bad new. I have had no problem to get my 1 gig shuffle to work. but my 4 gig nano will not connect both are formatted to a mac anyone know why the nano wont connect. I really need the nano to connect because of the size of the movie I want to watch im kind of just experamenting with the MP4 converter I'm using for the mac called isquint seems to work great so far but I converted my last movie to best possible settings H.264 mp4. It took awhile to convert but I wanted to see what the quality is like.
thanks in advace for the help BTW isquint is a free app for the mac it will convert just about anything to MP4 including avi it has a few options as well as optimize for TV or for ipod check it out mac users so far I have been able to watch a movie with my shuffle. But like I said it has to be under 1 gig so settings are on the low side |
