I watched this last night. Is this the first 3D BD of a live pop/rock concert?

It's fairly impressive. The picture has a good amount of depth, although a lot of the parts that "pop out of the screen" were added with CG (like a CG dragon that flies at the viewer). I guess they didn't think the concert would be "3D enough" without adding special effects. Also, it's not the entire concert -- they cut out the parts where Hamasaki isn't performing (like the filler during costume changes and MCs). As a result, it feels a little short compared to her other concert DVDs.

Her "Rock 'n Roll Circus FINAL 7 Days Special" concert (her latest concert) was released on Blu-ray at the same time. This concert was also filmed with 3D cameras (they mention it during the concert), but I guess the 3D version will be headed to theaters before it comes out on Blu-ray. After watching this concert, I think it will fare better in 3D than the 2009 one because it actually incorporates circus acts into the concert. The "Rock 'n Roll Circus" concert was a HUGE spectacle.

Note: The 3D concert comes with a lenticular 3D card.

I have the same question, does it play in 2d? I find it odd that they only released it in one format...

The 2D version came out last year on DVD. This is the first time this concert has been released on Blu-ray, however. Maybe it's because the 3D version was released in movie theaters in Japan. I think they are treating it as something separate. The 3D version does have a number of differences.

As soon as I popped the disc into my PS3, it started playing in 3D, and there was no 2D option.

If you're looking for a 2D Blu-ray of an AH concert, I recommend the "Rock 'n Roll Circus" BD.

Of course, you can watch every Blu-ray 3D disc in 2D mode, usually.

Except if your name is Disney and you think you can make more $$$ when you confuse the customer and release 4-disc combo packs that include a 'regular' non-3D Blu-ray disc, as well as a Blu-ray 3D disc. In those cases, the Blu-ray 3D disc could have been watchable in 2D also, but Disney blocks(!) that possibility, so you can only watch it in 3D, or not. No wonder, consumers get confused because of this marketing B.$., and may even think that if there is no extra Blu-ray disc included that you couldn't watch the 3D disc in 2D also; this is the result. Thanks, Disney! (not) Just my $0.02...

No, there are several others, like:
- Paul Carrack's 'Live In 3D' (Panasonic)
- Michael Jackson's 'This is it' (Sony)
- K. Chesney's 'Summer in 3D'
- 'die fantastischen Vier' (Amazon Germany)
- Julien Clerc in concert (Amazon France)

This Is It is not a live concert in any way... and roughly 10 minutes of the whole thing are in 3D... and are just freaking music videos. Sorry, I'm just bitter because I actually bought that disc a while back and I was highly disappointed (even though I knew ahead of time that only part of the whole thing was in 3D).

Sorry, I know this thread has been dead for over 6 months, but I saw that this J-Pop title existed and I decided to try to find some details...

Hi, I came across this thread while searching "ayumi blu ray" on Google.

I wanted to ask which concerts of hers you think are the best. I currently have Power of Music 2011 and Rock 'n' Roll Circus 7 Days Final on Blu-ray. They are both great and I am looking to get maybe one or two more for my collection.

I am deciding between the Asia Tour 2008 and her Next Level 2009 tour, but if there are any others I should look into, let me know.

Thanks.
