Okay, I'm finally doing it folks. I'm finally going to watch Supernatural. All I've heard from these bums (aka Wyldeman, Gamma, etc) is how great this show is, and it's the bees knees, the cure for Polio and it magically gets kids laid (warning to BYU ballers).
So now I'm going to dive in. Starting with episode 1. Now I was going to do this before, and lost interest after an episode and a half once I realized it was a "beast of the week" type show, but I've been ASSURED that it becomes much more serialized. Now, NO SPOILERS IN HERE unless I ask for them SPECIFICALLY. Just started Episode 1, and I notice that not only is the goddess Sarah Shahi (a woman with only 5 unique letters in her name) in the 1st ep, but so is Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, The Losers). Morgan wasn't their dad was he? The dad looked vaguely familiar, but wasn't sure if he was big enough (size wise) to be Morgan. Back to the show. BTW: how soon into the show before it becomes regularly serialized? EDIT: loooooooooool, Wyldeman woulda been SOOOOOOOOOO ****ed, once Shahi said "Take me home" lol EDIT: Oh the GF dies? Well, THAT'S convenient. And just like his mom? Interesting. MOD EDIT: Added more to your title so people knew wtf this is. Last edited by Gamma_Winstead; 03-05-2011 at 03:58 PM. |

I couldn't make it through the first season. The two leads are good and the continuing plot with the father is interesting. The problem is the individual episodes. Some are good, some are really weak. It's really a mixed bag. I don't know how if it changed as the series went on, but I wish they had concentrated more on the main story than the monster in every town, every week idea.

I really liked the monster of the week episodes as well as the mythology episodes. But don't worry as it get's very serialized down the road and get's better as it goes on even at season 6 it's still at the top of it's game while most shows go downhill a little.

I have always loved paranormal fiction on television, but the first season of Supernatural is very sporadic and spotty in quality. There were just too many ridiculous monster-of-the-week episodes for it to be that good. The show starts improving by leaps and bounds after that first season, until it becomes a Rock-N-Roll tour de force for the next four seasons.

Damn, I remember when I did this. First time I'd ever seen it as on DVD. I think season 3 was just released, so seasons 1 & 2 were on sale - so I grabbed them, having absolutely no idea what the show was even about.
Loved it! I lived by myself in a large echoey 4 bedroom house (large for a single bloke anyways) - and found myself watching a disc per night. I wouldn't start it until it was dark, and it really created the right atmosphere for getting right into the show. |
