Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3

Not much is known about it, but it's the 13th title in the Atelier series(excluding any of the spin-off and side-story Atelier games) and that it's the 3rd Atelier game in the Arland saga of the series. It will be released on PS3 sometime this year.

Still waiting for Atelier Totori, but more Atelier games is always good. I know Rorona will play a key role in this new game, but I wonder if Totori will be in this one as well?

Well you'll be happy to know that Totori isn't as annoying of a plat especially since there's no time limits. I imagine Meruru being the same way.

So basically while Atelier Rorona is a traditional-style Atelier game, but it did have those few annoying things about it like time limits, and so so on. Totori was more closer to almost exactly like how the Atelier games have been since the series started on PS1.

Atelier Totori has a 100% chance of coming stateside, but Atelier, Ar tonelico, and Atelier's Mana Khemia games take really long time to localize. But do hope NISA says something about Atelier Totori after at least Ar tonelico Qoga comes out. If not then I hope at least they bring us Atelier Judie and Violet for PSP.

Nice, ya I watched some trailers on Totori and it looked a lot better (not that I didn't like Rorona). It just seemed like it had a more solid story to it and an overall better look to the gameplay as well.

This might be wishing a lot for this type of game, but I wish they had animated cut scenes, or at least an ending anime scene. I mean the art is great, but remember xenogears?

Well most games with lots of text stick to using those really nice looking CGs. However, Gust did make animated cutscenes as well as nice looking CGs for Ar tonelico Qoga, but it's done by a different artist. But of course some of the cutscenes in Ar tonelico Qoga are only like 10-15 seconds long. The main story scenes have cutscenes that last for a couple of minutes, plus the True Ending credits is like a 2 minute animated cutscene with like 8 minutes of credits after it.

Dengeki PlayStation has a blowout on Atelier Meruru, a sequel to Atelier Totori and Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland. Meruru (which could also be Meryl or Merle) is a fifteen year old alchemist apprentice and Totori, now 19, is her teacher. Atelier Meruru takes place in the small country of Earls, which is just outside of Arland.

Rorona returns in this game, but she appears as a little girl who really wants to eat pie. Since Rorona was Totori’s mentor in Atelier Totori, Rorona should be even older in Atelier Meruru. Part of the mystery is how or why is Rorona a girl since Dengeki didn’t explain why.

Atelier Meruru has a new system where players help her cultivate the world. It’s possible to turn this empty space into a giant tower. Players can also customize their alchemy creations by making small changes to a formula. Gust completely changed the battle system in Atelier Meruru. The game displays the turn order on the side of the screen with character icons lined up vertically. Atelier Meruru uses a cost turn system, which sounds like a fancy way of saying attacks change the turn order.

Gust says Atelier Meruru will be the end of the Arland storyline for now and there will be a conclusion to the series. That’s not counting downloadable content, which Gust plans to release.

Atelier Meruru is slated for release on June 23. A limited edition with another crystal paperweight and Meruru Nendoroid will go on sale for 10,290 yen ($127) while a standalone game costs 7,140 yen ($88).

The only trailer out right now is just the one I posted on the OP which is more of a Teaser trailer that was taken at a recent event when Gust was 1st revealing it.

Those screenshots look really great.

Anyways the official website has been updated slightly.

That nendoroid makes me want to import the limited edition. But considering America is getting the Totori nendoroid, I may end up not importing it. Though I have other games to import as well.

At this rate, i'm guessing Totori will be arriving sometime in Winter to Spring 2012. We'll probably hear some announcement like when NIS America has their Summer Conference event where they make a bunch of announcements at once. So pretty much about the time Atelier Meruru is available in Japan.

Last year's Summer Conference it was for Gust's other series Ar tonelico as well as some other ones like Z.H.P. and Cladun(aka Classic Dungeon). Plus NIS America has partnered up with Imageepoch, so they're going to have a pretty busy schedule as is. Plus there's so many other Atelier games that need to come out of Japan. Then you have to realize that Gust games take awhile to translate and dub.

So unless they secretly already have Totori. we're looking at a 2012 release. If it does get released in 2011, it'll be like around Christmas.

I'm really loving Meruru's character design, I want to play this game so bad!

I was browsing the Nisa Forum earlier and it appears 3 games are going to be announced (Didn't say what system though), I'm actually fairly confident one of those games will be Atelier Totori.

New game announcements from NIS America is always good, got me excited as well, hopefully Atelier Totori is confirmed. I would like to see Hyperdimension Neptunia MK-2 be confirmed for US as well, but that's unlikely since the game is not even out in Japan yet.
