Cool A question for 5.1 surround people.

I just got a Sony 5.1 surround sound system a few days ago and I was wondering what Blu-rays would showcase that kind of system. I'm just using the DVD version of Saving Pvt. Ryan right now.The beach landing scene.

I would say any Blu Ray movie would make your 5.1 set up sound great. Here are a couple of movies that I remember having great AQ (audio quality):

Cars
Ratatouille
Live Free or Die Hard
300
Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer
etc......

Where you will really hear a BIG difference is when you can listen to the lossless audio tracks (PCM, Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio). If you can afford the newer receivers with the ability to decode these audio codecs, go for it. I don't regret for one second upgrading my AVR.

I have to agree with Cars - great sound! Rat was very effective, too.

well with the ps3 he doesnt necessarily need a receiver capable of decoding all the new codecs since the ps3 can do all but DTS-HD and DTS-HD:MA. he will need one with HDMI that can accept the decoded form in PCM tho.
