Hopefully both this and El Cid have new remasters.... the German releases didn't look the best... lots of DNR and not much detail.

This and EL CID are bound to be the same as the German HD versions. They have the same extras which all derive from the Weinstein, Miriam Collection DVDs.

Thank you for this information. I would certainly be interested in a better Bluray of this superb movie. However, the advertised running time of 2 hrs 52 minutes worries me as it should be 3 hrs 3 minutes. Perhaps this new release will not have the xtra footage that the Miriam Collection included.

There was never any new footage in the Miriam Collection version (the rest of the previously lost original roadshow footage was found shortly before the DVD was released but unfortunately it was too late to be included). The listed running time is probably a mistake - someone has no doubt quoted the old PAL 25fps running time and has not corrected it.

Has anyone determined if this is really region-locked? There are conflicting reports on different forums. Please cite better evidence than what Blu-ray.com lists.

I have it and it is region-B locked.

Thanks for the confirmation. It's strange, there are several import distributors who are listing it as Region-All.
