No clue. There is one 200 feet from my house, and I still always forget they exist. They are completely irrelevant.

I don't believe so.

I recall reading that Blockbuster Canada is a separate entity from BlockBuster USA, with our Blockbuster making profit.

We had one close in Winnipeg this past summer I think (Osborne), but from what I can tell they're doing rather well.

Daaark, just curious about your comment. I assume that you rent blu-rays. The two rental options for me are either Blockbuster or Rogers. Where do you rent yours from if you do not use Blockbuster?

As far as I know, Blockbuster Canada is a separate entity. Reason why most video rental stores still exist (and do well) in Canada is because of the CRTC and other regulatory boards that restrict sites like Netflix to fully be able to release their film catalogs.

The one across the street from me is always busy! On the weekends there are 2 registers open (that's all they have) and there is a constant lineup.

Hopefully they'll stay around and viable.

I haven't rented anything since the late 1990s.

I buy.

One in town closed but Exist2Inspire is right there a separate entity than those in the States. I have no idea how they are doing as a whole I never ever rent from Bb.

so looks like 1/3rd of all Canadian Blockbusters are closing. All 4 of them on the West side of Vancouver are going bye bye

It also means that starting today every blockbuster that is closing is clearing out everything. The entire store is 30% off. Lots of bargains to be had if you wanna search around.

I picked up Incredible Hulk for $7, RED for $11, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 for $16

I tried trading in some movies. They won't take them until this issue is resolved.

Yeah it's Disgusting! Of course, the store closest to me just has to close. Luckily there is one "close" by, but is about 15 minutes away (St. James, Portage & Sharp).

Definitely got a few deals today ^^

I've heard that all the rest are up for sale and most likely will close also.

I just heard this on the news. Up to 37% are closing and liquidating their stock. I am going to go tomorrow my nearest BB and take a look.

Is there any way of finding out which stores are closing or do I actually have to go to my local store to discover such a thing?

The store here in Charlottetown is closing. Everything must go sale. Place was packed. Picked up a few titles.

Default Canadian blockbuster closures & discounts

Hi everyone,

For those of you in Canada, Blockbuster has announced closures of some stores.
Truly, sad. Been a customer of the BB near my house for years.

There are really good discounts and lots of stock left as of today. The closure was announced Friday May 27th.

I saved $61. Got 7 blurays: A Team, Expendables, Tangled 3d (new), Fast & Furious (New), Secretariat, Pashendale and Killers.

and

2 Xbox360 games for $20: Medal of Honor and Star Wars The Force Unleashed II

Total $141.

Retail savings, approx $200?

Very sad to see it go.
