I watched this film twice in theaters and the second time the violence did not seem as intense as the first time, I know this is because I had already seen it, but it is funny that a film in this day and age can get censored over gore
I find it funny too. Such a shame that the director was forced to cut it too.

Any idea what was actually cut? Just saw this in theaters on Monday and LOVED it!

I have no idea what was cut, while I was watching it I felt that it was uncut. Because if they had scene like
[Show spoiler]the police chief getting his face bashed in with the dumbell
why would they cut other stuff? For all this talk of cuts having to be made, it seemed like the one I watched had some pretty graphic stuff in it. Or at least stuff that I would have thought would have been cut if it indeed was a cut version I saw. These running times are easy to get confused by exhibitioners.

I think the only way we will know is if the director says that a DVD or Blu contains the uncut version, then people that have seen both can compare.

I saw the film in LA

I saw it at the IFC and there definitely seems to be one scene missing while it seems the gorier graphic violence could be intact. I've also chatted to people that have seen a version with less graphic violence, yet the scene that was missing at the IFC was intact????!!

It's getting really confusing and at this point I'm expecting the US Blu to be the Magnet version I just saw, which will be disappointing.

uhh ive seen the 144 minute version and it gets MUCH worse than that. that part is far from the worst of the violence in the movie.
it was one of the most intense movies ive ever seen, i hope thats the version getting released. i thought it was incredible.

Can you at least spoiler the parts that you thought were more graphic?

[Show spoiler]when he stabs the scalpel through his achilles tendon and sort of takes his time cutting it

[Show spoiler]when hes stabbing those two guys in the cab and theres geysers blood shooting everywhere

maybe you did see the uncut version and you found that one part more difficult to watch than i did, but i thought there were far more intensely graphic parts than that. i cant really remember too many other specifics its been about a month since i saw it.

From what it seems like we saw the same version. I did not find any part difficult to watch.

The two scenes you described used unique camera work or editing which made you aware of the film. The scene I described had an uninterrupted take of
[Show spoiler]The dumbell repeatedly smashing the face and its getting bloodier
It reminded me of the
[Show spoiler]fire extinguisher
scene in Irreversible.

i was just saying of all the violence in the movie thats one part that could easily pass in a rated R film. the scene where the guy gets his face smashed in Pans Labyrinth was more graphic than that.

The Magnet cut is definitely not fully uncut. It's missing
[Show spoiler]the rape scene with the cannibal's wife/girlfriend
. Strange that this was left out and by everything I've been able to gather, the graphic violence seems intact but I've had confirmation of this particular scene from two people who have seen entirely different versions. Maybe it's a directorial edit, I don't know. I'm interested to hear what version makes it into UK theatres next month.

Regardless, I still might pick the Magnet version up if I can't find any other version. I love this movie too much, but if it's only missing one scene, it's not a big deal.
