Question Denon AVR 2808CI 7.1 or ONKYO TXSR805

If you had a choice between the these two which would you recommend?

I own the Onkyo 805. Very happy with this future proof receiver. I don't know anything about this specific Denon model though. What are the price differences? You can get the Onkyo for about $750.00 right now from Amazon. (Was $1200.00 aprox 9 months ago.) Decodes all sound formats, can't loose.

The power seems to be 130 watts. Has anyone ever imported a receiver from the US and are the parts likely to burn out even with a power upcovertor?

Please. I think you understand what I'm saying. "Future proof" technology is probably good for seven to 10 years these days with so many changes happening so quickly. The Denon (or any receiver) will be no different in these regards so I don't understand your point.

Probably won't even be watching movies on disks in 10 years that could be described by today's standards of what we now know as BDs. Will probably be a Sony Holographic disk with insane storage capasity. And no, the future will NOT be digital Microcrap downloads.

Show off The prices of these amps in Ireland and the UK are nuts. About twice what the guys and gals are paying in the US.

I'm on my third Denon. When the time comes, I plan on there being a fourth.

Denon. I too have the 3808ci and it is ever so sweet. But not for the technologically challenged.

Yes, Denon made one that had removable daughterboards to accommodate new technology. It was $5000, though.

Im looking into Denon as well at this moment. Having Yamaha for the last 2 receivers I'm still checking everything out... but Denon seems like they will get my business now. As for Onkyo I have had 2 other friends have problems with them in the past. I have never owned them but they have turned me off of them.

I Would love to but she who has to be obeyed doesn't share my enthusiasm for the home cinema world so will probably stick with the PS3 for a while longer (which I'm very impressed with)
