Does any one know why when I am watching a movie OR playing a game on either my Xbox 360 or PS3 I can't select this setting? For instance I will be playing Resident Evil 2 on my PS3 and the only option I have is PCM as nothing else can be selected. Same with my Xbox. My wii works fine in this regard however.
I normally have my PS3 set to Linear PCM however I have tried to switch it to bitstream and still I have the same problem. I know that something is up because when I first got my reciever I was playing it in PLII/Neo:6/Neural Surround and now I can't even select those. Does anyone here know my problem? I can't find anything on it, is there a setting I have left on that is stopping it from working? PS3 is hooked in through HDMI and set to Linear PCM 360 is hooked though Optical |

I'm not familiar with your Elite's menus, but I multiple settings including default listening. I had that set to PLII Games but once the PS3 fires up to goes back to all channel stereo. However, on my other audio settings I have those set to straight decode. So my assumption was the PS3's default audio actually falls into one of the other categories I wasn't tweaking, sending out PCM. Watching TV, however, I have it set the same way and it utilizes PLII Movies just fine, per my setting. Curious to see what others have to say on this one. |

When playing a game on my 360 that is 4.1 Dolby Digital (no center channel) I can't select Pro Logic II, but it uses prologic II automatically when I watch a video on my 360. ON my PS3 if I am playing an old game like "Resident Evil 2" it automatically selects "PCM" which is only outputting 2-channel stereo. I should be able to enable a matrix surround option right? but I can't. When I watch a video file that I have on my pS3 that is in stereo it allows for the matrixing options, why not the game? |

I don't believe the Pio can do PLIIx when using PCM. It can only do THX. I use my original 60GB PS3 to play PS2 games and my front panel indicates "Stereo" but don't know if I have the PS3 set to "PCM" or "Bitstream". Since mine doesn't bitstream BDs, I'm thinking I have it to "PCM" even though I don't play BDs on it.
I can check my settings when I get home but that won't be for hours as I'm at work. |

Re the PS3, even though it is outputting stereo, if this is thru HDMI, there is the remote possibility is it packing L/R stereo audio into a multichannel layout, like 4.1 or 5.1, even though the other channels are silent. If you connect the PS3 with either S/PDIF or 2-ch analog, then PLII will work. |
