Default Hellraiser: Bloodline / Hellraiser: Inferno (1996-2000)

Hellraiser IV: Bloodline / Hellraiser V: Inferno Blu-ray

Hellraiser IV: Bloodline / Hellraiser V: Inferno Blu-ray Review

Hmm interesting, but the odd thing is the release date 5/15 as Bloodline on it's own in 5/10.

Bloodline was the last that actually had a budget or was any good at all.

I remember seeing Bloodline in the theatre and at the time I figured well this is it for Pinhead. He's in space, just like they did with Jason. Then to my surprise they made 4 more direct to DVD sequels, none of which I have seen. Not to mention another one without Doug Bradley is being made for direct to video called Hellraiser: Revelations.

Yeah don't even bother with the direct to video ones. LOL at the one they are making without Bradley. What a joke the new Pinhead looks like.

Inferno was actually a pretty good psychological horror, and bloodline wasn't that bad, and went back to the LeMarchand legend. I'll be getting these!

Hellbound being the one to have! In addition to the first of course.

Let's hope for the UNRATED version though.

Not that he was really in the others after Bloodline, either--
Basically, Inferno turned the series into a sort of "Freddy's Nightmares", where we would get a generic weird-horror plot, and Pinhead would cameo at the end to make his usual Deep Poetic horror comments...

It pretty much DID end in space, but if the Jason X factor can't kill off a series, the Halloween: Resurrection factor can: Do the last one as a self-aware party of teens with videocams.

Well, I thought that Tunicliffe's short HR film was terrible, so it doesn't surprise me at all on the level.

I'll probably get this. I love the Hellraiser series. Inferno was probably my least favorite, but I wouldn't exclude it from my collection. My favorites of the DTV sequels were Hellseeker (some of the best new Cenobites since the originals) and Hellworld (did away with some annoying aspects of the previous DTV films).

I like Bloodline a lot. It's always terrible to put horror icons in space, who knows why they do it. But for me, Bloodline wasn't about Pinhead in space. It was about the origins of the puzzle box.

Exactly right about Bloodline - it was all about LaMarchand.

I do like Inferno though. In all honesty it is my favourite of the entire series - even over the original.

Inferno gets alot of crap when I feel it made Pinhead true to the "lead" he was was in the book and first movie.
Yes yes Clive Barker hated it and wanted Pinhead to be like he was in 3 and bloodline. But Honestly in my opinion Clive Barker has gone as crazy as George Lucas.
Pinhead in Inferno was true to the character.
I liked the film but yes in the end it is just a Jacobs Ladder rip off.

When the scriptwriter spends MORE time having the characters tell the hero "This is what you did to me because of your drug addiction!" than at anything remotely connecting the story to the Cube, I think we can guess where the screenwriter had been for the last twelve weeks before writing the script...
Every screenwriter feels he has to write something cathartic and punishingly self-confessional about his mistakes after coming out of rehab, but have to admit, up till now, I'd never quite thought of Pinhead as a twelve-step counselor....Montel Williams he is not.

I've noticed more and more in these type of films, after studying it, the Tibetan Book of the Dead is used. My first glmpse of this was Enter the Void and since then I've gone back and been like "Oh, NOW I get it!" with Jacob's Ladder and even 2001 A Space Odyssey. If you have netflix look up a simple video about it. Totally makes sense now. It seems to be that you find horror films use it in place of something like Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces for Sci-fi, like Star Wars. Just my opinion. That's why I don't dog Inferno. It's one of my favorite from the series, always has been.
On a Blu-ray note... are we going to get 1080i on the double features for Halloween 6 and H20 and Bloodline and Inferno double deals? Is that why the sinle discs, not doubled movies in one package are more, because they're 1080p? REALLY want to know! Thanks!

I always thought Bloodline was the best sequel to Hellraiser, showing the history of the cube. Most of the direct-to-video sequels felt mostly like horror scripts for other movies that could not get produced without the hook of the Hellraiser name, so the producers would try to shoehorn Pinhead into an already developed script to sell it in the marketplace.
