I just purchased an LG BD670 and it has a built-in dual-band wireless adapter. I use Earthlink cable and was wondering is there would be any real advantage of using a dual-band router over a single band. My Internet connection speed is about 8 Mbps download and .5 Mbps upload.

From what I've read, dual band routers can transmit signals using both channels (2.4 & 5 GHz) at the same time and therefore increase bandwidth. So I'm wondering if the LG BD670 would really benefit from that or if a single band router would be sufficient for streaming. I looked in the BD670 manual but I didn't see any information about whether it would support using both channels at the same time. If not, then a db router would not benefit me. |
