While I won’t go so far as to say the trailer affirms that criticism, I will say that the way this footage is edited makes the film look like a fairly standard indie in which a bit of quirky humor is the candy shell around an earnest, emotional dramatic center. Rebecca Hall, Laura Dern, Michael Peña, Stephen Root, and Christopher Jordan Wallace are the supporting cast, and they all look appealing enough. What do you think — boilerplate indie, or has this trailer been cut to disguise some of Raymond Carver’s trademark intensity.

This sounds like it could be more in line with a Stranger Then Fiction type of role (comedy wise) which would be great. That movie is so underrated and it's nice to see that side of his acting compared to Talladega Night and Step Brothers type.

I agree. I love Stranger Than Fiction. That is one of my favorite movies of the last few years and Ferrell was actually really good in it. He can actually act if given the chance. I'd honestly like to see him make more movies like this, and less of movies like Step Brothers and Talladanga Nights.

Have you seen Stranger Than Fiction? He's great in it. He can actually act when given the chance.

Yes! I agree, he has a solid dramatic repertoire that he should utilize more often. Stranger than Fiction was a solid film. His co-star helped a bit too.

I think it looks absolutely terrible. Comedy was the only thing that masked Will Ferrel's terrible acting.

I have and I honestly don't think the acting was worth mentioning. I based my review off my previous experiences and the trailer that you provided. If you don't like my rating, don't offer it as an option.

Wow. What a thread crapper. I wish mods could remove people's ratings. I just ordered STF for $7, good movie. He certainly was good in this movie as well.

The option is for those who have seen it. You can't rate something you haven't watched. Because it may not be like any of your previous experiences. Did you see on the poll where it says Rate the movie (After You've Seen It!) in big, bold letters? What you did is absolute trolling. I'm sorry, but it's true.
