United Kingdom Seen at the Cinema Thread.

Okay something different,

I dunno about you guys, but when I walk out of a Cinema after seeing a film I either think or say "Im gona buy that on BR" or "I'm never buying that unless it had a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket in it" either way I always think of it.

So I thought we could have a thread for people who have just seen a film and they can praise or Bash it depending on wether they'll purchase it on BR

And please for respect of other users any sensitive info please spoiler tag it as no to upset anyone

I'll start, went to see Source code tonight! Very good film, some might find it a tad predictable, but definitely worth a day 1 BR purchase for me!

Cool thread idea. I really want to see Source Code.

The last film I saw at the cinema was Rango, which I thought was brilliant. I loved all the Western references, and it was one of the most original animations I've seen for a while. Some of the critics slammed it for being too weird and maybe alienating it's audience (kids, obviously), but I know if I was still a kid I would still have loved this. I'll definitely get it on blu-ray.

It's been a great week for cinema releases, with the fantastic Source Code and Essential Killing both released last friday. I thought that Sucker Punch was pretty good too, in spite of the vitriolic response from the majority. It's not my usual thing, but I had a ball when I saw it last Tuesday. I have to admit though, it hasn't sat well with me since. I'll definitely be picking up Source Code and Essential Killing on Blu-ray. Will probably not bother with Sucker Punch, depends on the amount of extra material.

Great week coming up too, I can't wait to see Little White Lies on Friday. My local cinema is doing a Francois Truffaut season beginning tomorrow too.

I'm pretty easily entertained, so almost every time I come out the cinema I know I'll buy the Blu-ray.

That said though, there are some films that I just thought were so bad they weren't even worth owning on DVD; G-Force comes to mind.

I don't go to the cinema anywhere near as much as I'd like. I saw 5 films last year which was higher than usual. Not been this year but want to go see Sucker Punch.

Taking into consideration that you now have to take out a mortgage to go to the cinema now, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I refuse to pay extortionate prices to watch a flick. I think the last thing I watched at the cinema was Spiderman 3.

As it's already been said though, a great thread idea and not the usual what are you buying, how does it look, show us your....

As the only decent cinema in my area is a Vue and they charge £7.30-£9.00 I don't go very often. I'd rather wait and own the film for just a little bit more cash. I would like to see Source Code and Battle: Los Angeles but I doubt I will.

It's not that expensive if you look for the bargains. Me and my friend often get a 241 ticket on Orange Wednesdays, so we split the price between us - works out at about £3-£4 each.

We also both have an Odeon points card, which means sometimes we can see movies for free as well.

Also - if you go in the middle of the day like we do, it's usually empty. No annoying chatty kids to worry about.

My point entirely. For a short wait and a few more pounds you can own the damn thing.

I tend to go to the cinema maybe once a month, only if something really good is on and I'd only go on an Orange Wednesday or Bargain Tuesday offer at Cineworld.
2011 has started off superbly though and I ended up going 3 times in a week to see Black Swan, The Kings Speech and 127 Hours. All superb films and all will be in my BD collection the moment they come out.
I'm well up for seeing Source Code and I recently won two tickets to the cinema with the new Monolopy game at McDonalds so I think I'll use them for that.

I don't know, the Plymouth Arts Centre is pretty great. I studied in Plymouth a few years back, and it was the only place that kept me sane (although the Odeon in the city centre had a charm about it; from what I hear its not an Odeon anymore tho).

There isnt really anything I want to see on at the cinema at the moment. Last thing I saw was Jackass 3D, I'll pick that up on blu-ray eventually.

This, the expense usually puts me off.
These days I usually bring my own popcorn and juice, if you added in the overpriced drinks and snacks at cinema it can be closer to £15.

When did you study in Plymouth, 1872?

The Odeon is long gone, closed around '98 -'99. It's a casino now.

I Guess being a student has it's advantages!
£3 tickets with student cards and I'm part of the Odeon Premier club so I get a free film every few months! I'm taking it while I have it as I won't be a student forever!!
