I was going to recommend Amazon Marketplace...till I saw the prices. Sheesh, used copies are going for $65 while new ones are $115. I didn't even realize the DVD went out of print. I've had my copy since around 2005 or so.
I can almost guarantee this will never see a Blu-ray release due the way it was shot (low quality tape), but I'm scratching my head as to why Columbia would discontinue it unless they had plans for a DVD re-release. So, for now at least, I'd say keep your eye on both Amazon Marketplace and eBay for a good deal. If it's any consolation, I got burned by a Cinderella film, too. I re-discovered The Slipper and the Rose just a few years ago after growing up with it as a child. Of course, by the time I rediscovered it, it had gone out of print with a nasty barebones, pan and scan release taking its place. I ended up having to buy the original widescreen release with supplements used for about $60. |

All previous home video versions of Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella (1965 - Lesley Ann Warren) -- on CBS/Fox and Sony --- have included the Samuel Goldwyn logo (along with the R&H logo) -- so -- isn't the Goldwyn video library now part of MGM/UA, then distribution rights should be back with Fox now (which would explain the Sony version going OOP), right?
I would love to see this fully restored to the best possible form and on Blu -- also reissued on DVD - big aftermarket prices/demand for this title from nostalgic boomers, and now that there is a new version on Broadway, there is an additional market. I'd be all over this if the DVD was upgraded or a blu ray release. The old DVD is very well done, with a "making of" featurette with the surviving cast.
