Another Stakeout Blu-ray

Another Stakeout Blu-ray Review

Saw this for $5 at Target today. Pre-order price at Amazon is double that. I cannot find any reviews here or online.

While not a great movie, I liked it well enough to get the DVD years ago. Anyone bought it?
Comments about PQ/AQ vs. the DVD from anyone who actually watched the BD?

I'm guessing it is probably better than the DVD. Especially for $5.00.

Is it out already at Target? If so, I'll pick it up later today(assuming my local Target has it in stock). At 5 bucks, it's worth gambling on the PQ/AQ.

The first Stakeout has been playing a lot lately on HDNet Movies which usually indicates a Blu-ray release in the near future. I'm surprised to see the 2nd one come out first.

I bought it today but, haven't opened it hoping someone else already watched it & can comment re PQ/AQ.
Hope to see the much better original "Stakeout" on BD soon.

I got it over the weekend. The PQ is pretty good for a catalog release. Nice and clear and the audio is DTS-HD 2.0, not Dolby Digital 2.0 as it states on the box.

After looking through the other Mill Creek titles, look at the cover to Gross Anatomy..

just..wow.

I'd be really surprised if these blu-rays looked half way decent.

Out of the four Disney/Touchstone titles at Target, Gross Anatomy looked the worse. It looks soft. I think Another Stakeout was the best one out of the four.

Huh? The DVD had DD 5.1. Was this movie released in theaters with a stereo soundtrack? If so, I guess they're being faithful to the original presentation, but I don't like the idea of a downgrade in audio quality from the DVD.

It came out in 1993, so it was probably released in theaters with pro logic surround sound.

I would really like to see the first Stakeout get released on blu-ray. It was a classic 80's movie. I thought it was much better than Another Stakeout.

Mill Creek should have done a twofer with both like they just did w/ the Ernest films.

Both Stakeout films were released by Touchtone, and both were directed by John Badham.

Ya even a twofer would have been good. Lets just hope that the first Stakeout comes out on blu-ray soon. Another 80's movie that was released by Touchstone that I would like to see on blu-ray is Shoot To Kill.

Stakeout is superior to Another Stakeout, but the sequel was pretty good all things considered. It did neuter the rating from R to PG-13, but it made the tone more consistent unlike the first one which went from dark and violent to comedy to romance back to dark and violent. Plus I liked the continuity from the first one. Everyone of importance was back except for the captain(who was replaced by Dan Lauria's character) and Forest Whitaker. And that dinner scene with Dennis Farina's character and his wife was hilarious. Easily as good as any scene in the first movie. Plus Rosie O'Fat was actually not annoying(and when she was, it serviced the plot). That's a remarkable achievement in and of itself.

Rosie was okay in three films IMO: Another Stakeout, The Flintsones, and A League of Their Own.

I've only seen a few minutes of A League of Their Own, but The Flintstones? Rosie cast as Betty? I don't care about her actual performance, it's that she in no way looks like the cartoon character.

She was also pretty good in Wide Awake. That would be the M. Night Shyamalan film that preceded The Sixth Sense that almost no one saw. It's actually a solid little film(with a twist ending of course) that deserves a Blu-ray release at some point.
