True story. I still own the DVD of Sleepers. Great movie. This would be great news.

Wow Sleepers already? Didn't see that coming.

Props to WB this year, first Batman Beyond gets a blu release, then this and Space Jam is rumored highly for September, most likely will be October to coincide with NBA season start.

They're probably trying to get people to stop importing since everyone else is getting it this month.

Default Sleepers, Copycat and The Name of Rose Aug. 2nd

Haven't seen a thread on this yet..

Three thrillers from Warner's catalog will be getting the high-definition treatment this August.

In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers has indicated that 'Copycat,' 'Sleepers,' and 'The Name of the Rose' are planned for Blu-ray on August 2.

'Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition)' on Blu-ray
Get all three films at HUGE savings!

Specs have yet to be finalized, but 'Copycat' will include a commentary with director Jon Amiel and a trailer; 'Sleepers' will only have a trailer; and 'The Name of the Rose' will include a commentary by director Jean-Jacques Annaud, The Abbey Crimes, Photo Video Journey, and a trailer.

Suggested list price for each Blu-ray is $19.99.

You can find the latest specs for 'Copycat,' 'Sleepers,' and 'The Name of the Rose' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they're indexed under August 2.

There was a thread indicating that Sleepers and Copycat would be released but I don't think it included the release date information. I have to wait until August for Sleepers?!?!

Do major studios even concern themselves with import losses on a catalog title? Especially WB who don't even region-code their releases. The numbers have to be so minuscule so as to not even be a factor. I could see it being a concern for a new release that hasn't had worldwide theatrical showings yet, but not on an old movie like Sleepers.

I don't know how they pick what and when to release though, random roll of the dice?

Copycat was on HDNET movies about a month ago. The quality was a bit sharper than the DVD but nothing significant (just edge enhancement etc.). I hope they give it a nice once over and freshen it up as it deserves. I am definately down for Copycat at a nice price (LOVE Sigourney and Holly in this!)

I haven't seen The Name of the Rose in years. I know the DVD is downright crappy looking. Will be interesting to see what they can do with the quality on blu.

I don't care too much for this version of Sleepers. I want the 1992 Sleepers movie that starred Robert Redford and that the movie was actually a political thriller. It really deserves to be released to Blu-ray.

I think the Robert Redford movie you are thinking of was "Sneakers", and I agree that it deserves a release on Blu-ray.

Oh, yeah. You're right ... a typo on my part, considering that I did look up that information and still managed to type in the wrong movie.
